Alpine skiing/snowboarding
Mount Spokane will host Spring Fling on the Mountain this weekend to give special thanks to guests. The celebration will include music, races, prizes and a unique dining experience as several area restaurants will be serving on the sundeck.

Schweitzer will be the site of the INSA Youth Snow Challenge on Sunday.
Nordic skiing
Cross country trails at Kimberly, British Columbia, are reportedly in excellent condition for this weekend.
All trails at the Schweitzer Mountain Resort area were groomed this week.
The Methow Valley area continues to report great skiing conditions. Many trails were groomed this week, including all of the Sun Mountain area down to Wolf Ridge continuing to Brown’s Farm. The Methow Valley Community trail into Winthrop is not recommended this week. The Rendez-Vous system will be groomed for weekend skiing.
Avalanche watch
Due to rapid warming trends, the south-facing slopes in the Old Mission State Park area in Shoshone County have had considerable slides in the past week.
The Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center is issuing a warning of considerable avalanche danger in the Washington Cascades near the Cascade Crest. The Center is also cautioning backcountry skiers to be aware of rapid warming over the next few weeks.
