Area Weed Group Gets $20,000 Grant

The Panhandle Weed Management Area recently received a $20,000 grant from the Idaho Department of Agriculture to implement its 1999 operating plan.

The regional weed group was formed in November 1997 to provide a cooperative effort to fight weeds in the five northern counties.

The 1999 operating plan includes education, treatment of weeds and mapping projects, according to Gene Gibson, chairman of the weed management area.
