Potlatch Monitors Slow-Moving Slides

Potlatch Corp. is monitoring slow-moving landslides on a hill above the company’s log yard.

Two slides are on Potlatch property and a third is on private property.

Potlatch spokesman Frank Carroll said the worst-case possibility is one slide snapping an underground pipe that carries treated wastewater to the company’s aeration ponds.

That would shut down the mill’s operation for a few days, he said.

The company has called in a second geological expert to analyze the slides, Carroll said.
