Home Office May Replace Formal Living Room

Homestyles

The formal living room seems to be vanishing from new home design as we head into the next century. Allocating space to a formal living room and a large family room makes little sense as construction costs continue to rise.

Many homeowners are converting the formal living area into a study, usually adjacent to the front door where owners can greet clients if the space is to be used as a home office. The more time owners plan to spend in the study, the more elaborate they will want the room to be. This study features a fireplace, transom windows and plenty of built-in bookshelves.
