From Staff Reports

North Idaho College is offering an anthropology and ecology course this summer in Alaska.

The two-week course is called “Cultural Anthropology and Ecology: A Field Experience in Subsistence in Wild Alaska’s Brooks Range.”

Courses will be at an isolated cabin in the John River Valley. Students will explore the valley, and will fish, hike, camp, attend discussions and keep a journal while learning about the “bush lifestyle.”

Russell Hersrud, who holds degrees in teaching and science, will lead the course.

Participants can earn three academic credits for the course. The class will run July 2-17, with a second one July 17-31.

The registration deadline is June 14.
