Arlen `Jack’ Marineau Moscow, Idaho
Funeral Mass for Arlen Jacque “Jack” Marineau, 67, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moscow. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Marineau, who was born in Elk River, Idaho, died Tuesday of complications from cancer.
He grew up in Moscow and attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Moscow High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in commercial art from the University of Idaho in 1953.
Mr. Marineau served with the Air Force from 1954 to 1956. He married Judith Stubbs in 1959 and began an advertising career in the Moscow area.
He worked as a salesman, manager and publisher for News Review Publishing Co., The Daily Idahonian, for 24 years and then served as president of Northwest Experience Publishing Co., Properties Ltd. and Marineau Management Co.
Mr. Marineau had served as president of the Moscow Kiwanis Club, Sigma Delta Chi, Palouse Empire Chapter, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce, Idaho Allied Daily Newspapers, St. Mary’s School Board and Foundation, Moscow Industrial Development Corp. and the Idaho-Utah-Washington Associated Press Board.
He also had been active with the Inland Auto Association Advisory Board, the Latah County Industrial Board, Good Samaritan Advisory Board, University of Idaho Foundation and College of Letters and Science, and college of Art and Architecture advisory boards.
Mr. Marineau was a member of the Classic Jaguar Association, the Moscow Latah County Development Council and had served as the county campaign chairman for Sen. Steve Symms in 1985.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerard Marineau of Arizona and Jacques Marineau of Texas; a daughter, Claudine Tanner of Kennewick; his mother, Sophia Marineau of Moscow; a brother, William Marineau of Spokane; and one grandson.

Mitchell `Mike’ Clarke Loon Lake, Wash.
Memorial service for Mitchell O. “Mike” Clarke, 73, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Happy Home Church in Deer Park. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Clarke, who died Tuesday, was born and raised in Fresno, Calif.
Mr. Clarke served in the Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart for injuries suffered while in the Philippines.
He returned to California after the war and worked as an apprentice shipbuilder in Los Angeles. He also worked in oil fields in New Mexico and was a carpenter.
In 1958 he moved to southwest Washington, where he worked as a logger before moving to Eastern Washington in 1977.
Mr. Clarke worked as a heavy equipment operator at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, retiring in the early 1980s and moving to the Spokane area.
He was a member of the Happy Home Church in Deer Park and was an amateur radio operator.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Beulah; three daughters, Lonni Hillman of Spokane, Amy Fuller of Springfield, Mass., and Coralie Cunningham of Tacoma; two sons, David Luhn of Spokane and Harold Luhn of Longview, Wash.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Luda Thiemens Spokane
Funeral for Luda L. Thiemens, 90, will be at 2 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will be at West Greenwood Cemetery in Four Mound, Wash.
Mrs. Thiemens, who was born in Boone County, Mo., died Tuesday.
She graduated from Cheney Normal School with a degree in education.
Mrs. Thiemens taught in the Coulee City, Wash., area until her marriage to Albert Thiemens. They moved to a farm outside Reardan, Wash., where she provided home health care for many years.
She was a member of the Garland Avenue Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Spokane and a charter member of the Four Mound Homemakers Club.
Her husband of 44 years preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Howard Thiemens of Reardan; two daughters, Mary Thiemens of Mountlake Terrace, Wash., and Esther Thiemens of Spokane; a brother, Paul Yeager of Wenatchee; a sister, Sadie Smoots of Edmonds, Wash.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Sr. Mary Ward, SNJM Spokane
Vigil for Sister Mary Norberta Agatha Florence Ward, SNJM, 104, will be at 7 p.m. today at the Convent of the Holy Names. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the convent. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A longtime Spokane resident, Sister Ward died Tuesday. She was born in Hailey, Idaho.
Sister Ward was raised and attended schools in Hailey and entered the Sisters of the Holy Names at the age of 18. She attended St. Mary’s College in Portland, Marylhurst College, the University of Oregon and Gonzaga University.
She was a chemistry and botany teacher in secondary schools and colleges throughout Oregon and Washington for many years. She retired in 1969.
Sister Ward was sacristan and lived a prayer apostolate for 30 years.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Jack Miller, Dorothy Dees, Leo and Harry Breshnahan, Norma Hertling and Jerry Allen.
Irene Gullidge Spokane
Graveside service for Irene Olga Gullidge will be at 11 a.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gullidge, who was born in Hayden Lake, Idaho, died Wednesday. She was 80 She was a 70-year Spokane resident and graduated from North Central High School in 1936.
Mrs. Gullidge was a homemaker and a member of the Moose Lodge 161 Women’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Bryce; two sons, David Gullidge of Coeur d’Alene and Wesley Gullidge of Redwood City, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marian Morland Bremerton
No service will be held for Marian Lee Morland, a former longtime Spokane resident, at her request.
Mrs. Morland, who was born in Spokane, died May 12. She was 74.
She graduated from Rogers High School in 1942 and was a homemaker.
Her first husband, Elvin Lorentzen, died in 1973. She married Frank Morland in 1977.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Gary Lorentzen of Spokane; a sister, Becky Joshephson of Silverdale, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
Roy Nishimura Spokane
Memorial service for Roy Yoshito Nishimura, 86, will be at 7 p.m. today at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
A 56-year Spokane resident, Mr. Nishimura died Sunday. He was born in Tulare, Calif.
He was co-owner of Division Street Radio, a television and radio repair shop, for 33 years. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Nishimura was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, the Japanese American Citizens League and a 45-year member of the Southeast Lions Club. He also had been an amateur radio operator since 1930, operating under the call sign W7ARI.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Maggie; three sons, Fred Nishimura of Dillingham, Alaska, Robert Nishimura of Santa Monica, Calif., and Thomas Nishimura of Vancouver, Wash.

Robert Thompson Spokane
Graveside service for Robert Bruce Thompson, 80, will be at 3 p.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thompson, who was born in Rugby, N.D., died Tuesday.
He spent his early years in various parts of Western Montana before moving to Spokane 50 years ago.
Mr. Thompson served in the Army from 1941 until 1944.
He worked as a printer for many years and in 1960 founded Thompson Printing Co. and operated the business until his son took over.
Mr. Thompson was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 45.
His wife of 33 years, Dorothy, preceded him in death.
Survivors include four sons, Bruce and Robert Thompson, and Jim and John Rose; three daughters, Betty Jean Loosemore, Jacqueline Smith and Joyce Hansen; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Carl Wenrick Spokane
Memorial service for Carl F. Wenrick, 80, will be held at a later date. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wenrick, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Sunday.
He worked as a salesman in the hardware industry for several years.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Burns and Sandra Hidy; a son, Douglas Wenrick; three sisters, Elma Peterson, Thelma Humphries and Helen Barrick; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Andrew Wick Greenacres
Funeral for Andrew Oliver Wick, a lifetime Spokane resident, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Pines Cemetery.
Mr. Wick, who died Tuesday, was 81. He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and attended Spokane Junior College.
In 1948 he married Eileen Webster.
Mr. Wick worked as a power line surveyor in the Ellensburg area during construction of Grand Coulee Dam. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1941 and trained as a navigator and flight engineer on B-17s. During his 20th bombing mission over Germany, his plane was shot down and Mr. Wick spent more than eight months as a prisoner of war near Barth, Germany.
After his discharge, he worked for Brown Trailers and was a supervisor for Clark Equipment Co. in Spokane when he retired in 1980.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Andy Wick of Spokane; and a sister, Edith Webster of Huron, S.D.
John Purcell Spokane
Graveside service for John Franklin Purcell, 59, is planned for 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Pines Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Purcell, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.
He served in the Air Force for 20 years before retiring in 1977 and returning to Spokane.
In 1961, while stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, he married Edna Purcell.
After his military career, he worked as a truck driver.
Mr. Purcell attended Covenant Christian Church. He also was known for his birdhouses and his ulus, a type of Alaskan knife.
Survivors include four daughters, Eileen Steffen, Stacie Purcell and Tammy Edge, all of Spokane, and Carolyn Dewey of Koyuk, Alaska; a son, Sean Purcell of Spokane; his mother, Helen Purcell; two brothers, Lewis and Lowell Purcell; two sisters, Elizabeth Hopkins and Leila Collier; and nine grandchildren
Lois (Leuty) Matteson Kalispell, Mont.
Memorial service for Lois Mary (Leuty) Matteson, 94, is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Manito United Methodist Church. Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls, Mont., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Farmington, Wash., Mrs. Matteson died May 4.
She attended school in Farmington and Oakesdale, Wash., before moving to Spokane.
Mrs. Matteson worked at the Kaiser Aluminum Trentwood plant for 34 years. She retired in 1980.
She was a member of the Order of Amaranth, the Jane Jefferson, Moose Lodge Women’s Auxiliary 74 and the Pioneers of the State of Washington.
She had been living in Kalispell the last few years.
Her husband, Elvin, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter Mary Ann Morice of Bellevue, Wash.; a sister, Jane Hodgson of Spokane; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Impie Goeller Spokane
Memorial service for Impie Pauline Goeller, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Goeller, who died Tuesday, was born in Virginia, Minn.
She was raised in the Iron Range District of Minnesota. She graduated from the University of Portland School of Nursing.
Mrs. Goeller worked as a registered nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane for many years.
She spent summers at her cabin at Lake Coeur d’Alene.
Her husband, Ray, died in 1990.
Mrs. Goeller is survived by three sons, John Goeller of Spokane, Raymond Goeller of New Orleans and Joe Goeller of Duvall, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
