Kenya’S Tarus Rocks
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon has become Philip Tarus’ personal gig.
The Kenyan had a rousing encore, opening a huge lead with about 11 miles to go in defending his title with an exceptional time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, 33 seconds.
It was the fastest marathon ever run in California.
In the women’s race, 1998 runner-up Irina Bogacheva of Kyrgystan won her third marathon since December, finishing at 2:28:46 and beating Russia’s Alla Zhilyayeva by 1:14.
