20-Year-Old Held In Suspected Rape
A 20-year-old Coeur d’Alene man accused of forcing his teenaged girlfriend to have sex with him last summer was arrested Saturday on a rape charge.
Joseph F. Jones was being held Monday in the Kootenai County Jail, accused of assaulting the 16-year-old girl at her house last July. Jones was 19 at the time, and the couple had been dating for about two weeks.
The girl told Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies Jones showed up at her Rathdrum house during a slumber party she and some girlfriends were having on July 24. When the other girls went to bed, Jones and the girl began wrestling playfully in her bedroom, according to a sheriff’s report.
Jones then began to kiss the girl, overpowered her and assaulted her, the girl told deputies. She repeatedly yelled at Jones to stop, according to the deputy’s report.
Jones, who was arrested by Coeur d’Alene police officers late Saturday, is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
