‘Hercules’ Star Will Help Launch Two Roddenberry Series

The Hollywood Reporter

“Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” star Kevin Sorbo is leaving the show, which is being canceled, and developing two series from the vaults of late “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry.

Roddenberry’s widow, Majel Barrett Roddenberry, and Sorbo have teamed with Tribune Entertainment to develop “Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda” and “Gene Roddenberry’s Starship.”

Sorbo will star in one of the series, both being developed for fall 2000, Tribune Entertainment President and Chief Executive Officer Dick Askin said. Tribune produces and syndicates “Gene Roddenberry’s Earth: Final Conflict” with Alliance Atlantis.

“Andromeda” is set “millennia ago” and follows the time travels of Alexander Grange, a scientist on the planet Korkrya who finds himself thrust into a future world of war and a quest for lost loved ones.

“Starship” chronicles a space exploration vessel that is home to a team of galactic trouble-shooters led by Capt. Dylan Hunt.
