Riverside To Play For Third

Riverside will meet Ridgefield for third place in the State 2A boys soccer championships today after dropping a 2-1 semifinal decision to East Valley of Yakima in Selah.

Jake Moug’s goal gave Riverside a 1-1 tie at the 41-minute mark Friday, but Tom Ostrander hit for EV from 5 yards out in the 77th minute to decide it. Ostrander had given EV the lead in the 38th minute.

Riverside was outshot 20-17.

Ridgefield dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to Steilacoom in the other semifinal.

4A, Vancouver: Pasco will take on Evergreen of Vancouver for the championship after both won semifinal matches.

Region IV champion Pasco escaped with a 2-1 win over Snohomish on Skyler Allen’s goal 2 minutes into the second half.

Evergreen scored a 3-1 win over Thomas Jefferson.
