Spokane String Quartet Welcomes Founding Member Back To Group

Travis Rivers

The Spokane String Quartet celebrates the beginning of the group’s 21st season Sunday with a concert at The Met.

The first notes of the season will be among the last notes written for string quartet by Haydn, Beethoven and Bartok. Violinists Kelly Farris and Jane Blegen and cellist John Marshall will be joined this season by violist Claire Keeble. A founding member of the quartet in 1979, Keeble has been absent from the group for the past four seasons.

The works on Sunday’s program include three quartets by composers closely associated with the string quartet medium written near the end of their careers: Hadyn’s Quartet, Op. 77, No. 1, Beethoven’s Op. 135, and Bartok’s Sixth Quartet.

The Spokane String Quartet will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday at The Met. Tickets are $15 ($6 for students, $12 for seniors) available at the The Met Ticket Office, Hoffman Music and at G&B Select-a-Seat outlets, by phone at (800) 325-SEAT or online at www.ticketswest.com.
