Glenn Will Make Three Presentations
“Families are facing challenges each day with optimism, hope and commitment,” says Stephen Glenn, Family-a-Fair’s keynote speaker. While today’s families are strained by numerous pressures, they are profoundly resilient, Glenn says, “and are learning to preserve the strength inherent in families.”
Glenn, a consultant on education, youth violence and drug abuse, will address issues to strengthen the family during three presentations this weekend at the Spokane Convention and Agricultural Trade Center.
During opening ceremonies at 7 p.m. Friday, Glenn will present “Oil on Troubled Waters,” examining the factors that contribute to youth violence in our country, and outlining strategies for the prevention, intervention and resolution of violent behavior.
From 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Glenn will offer a workshop, “Raising Self-Reliant Children in a Self-Indulgent World,” based on his best selling book of the same name. He will discuss demographic and cultural changes that are challenging parents, as well as practical tactics to respond to these changes.
“7 Strategies for Developing Capable Students,” a second workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, will identify traits found in exceptional people and outline how parents can develop such characteristics in their schoolaged children.
The White House recently honored Glenn as one of the nation’s outstanding family life and prevention professionals.
Tickets are $6 for the keynote lecture; $10 for each workshop, available at the door or by calling 456-3733.
