Doris Anderson Greenacres

Visitation for Doris I. Anderson, 78, will be from noon to 12:45 p.m. today in the Relief Society Room of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, North Stake Center, 401 W. Regina. Service will follow at 1 p.m. in the church’s chapel. Burial will be at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement.s A 39-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Anderson died Tuesday.

Born in Alden, Iowa, she graduated from Iowa Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1942.

Mrs. Anderson served with the Army during World War II as a nurse in the African and European theaters. She was honorably discharged as a second lieutenant.

She served as hospital administrator for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Minneapolis, Portland and Spokane.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she also served in the Family History Center and on a service mission.

Survivors include three children, Laurie Simpson of Spokane, James Stephenson of Veradale and Allan Anderson of Lawrence, Kan.; two brothers, Donald Musson of Iowa Falls and Gerald Musson of Waldport, Ore.; a sister, Lucille Merrigan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Kenneth Phillips Spokane

Memorial service for Kenneth DeWayne Phillips will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Trentwood. Spokane Cremation and Burial is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Phillips died Sunday. He was 75.

He served with the Army for three years in Europe during World War II as a medic.

Mr. Phillips worked for Keytronic and later for Spokane Machinery.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Nadine; a stepdaughter, Linda Fischer of Spokane; a brother, Bruce Phillips; nine grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.

Dale Peterson Richmond, Calif.

Private service for Dale Lee Peterson, 64, was held.

Mr. Peterson who was born in Clatskanie, Ore., died July 31.

He grew up in Oregon and Longview, Wash., and attended R.A. Long High School, where he was student body president and captain of the football team.

Mr. Peterson graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in business administration. He was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity.

He served in the Marine Corps, achieving the rank of lieutenant and was honorably discharged in 1960. While serving with the Marines, he sang on the Ed Sullivan Show with the U.S. Marine Corps Choir.

Mr. Peterson worked in the computer and electronic marketing development industry, working for several companies, including Burroughs/Unysis, American Sign and Indicator and Keytronics. He was a co-founder of a Spokane-based company called Dataline Systems in the early 1980s.

In the late 1980s he moved to California.

Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife of 24 years, Suzanne; two children and four stepchildren, Chris Peterson of Seattle, Kiersten Peterson of St. Croix, Sherri Cruickshank of Tahoe City, Calif., Michael and Dara Peters, both of Truckee, Calif., and Lisa McLean of Hilo, Hawaii; and 13 grandchildren.

Thomas Lyonnais Spokane

Memorial service for Thomas E. Lyonnais, 59, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lyonnais died Sunday. He was born in Helena.

He graduated from Gonzaga Prep and later served in the Navy for two years.

Mr. Lyonnais worked as a dispatcher for Texaco for 25 years. He later worked as a bus driver for All Saints Catholic School for five years.

He was a member of the Spokane Eagles Lodge and the Men’s Club at Sun Dance Golf Club.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Lyonnais of Spokane and Jed Lyonnais of Alaska; four daughters, Beverly Dismukes, Kristie Lyonnais and Abby Ladwig, all of Spokane, and Kary Griffin of Bloomington, Minn.; a brother, Richard Lyonnais of Spokane; two sisters, Donna Ragland and Patricia Milla, both of Spokane; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Elizabeth Tobie Spokane

Memorial service for Elizabeth Mary Hocking Rowe Tobie, 83, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Liberty Park United Methodist Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 48-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Tobie died Monday.

She was born in Hancock, Mich., and graduated from Hancock High School in 1934.

She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Park United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Frank; a son, Milton Tobie of Sandy, Ore.; two daughters, Mary Fagan of Spokane and Susan Heyen of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother and two sisters; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Park United Methodist Church.

Gordon Schlender Spokane

Service for Gordon Schlender, 69, will be at 1 p.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairfield. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Fairfield. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane-area resident, Mr. Schlender died Sunday. He was born in Spokane.

He served in the Army for a few years.

Mr. Schlender operated a tavern in Oakesdale, Wash., for a few years before returning to Spokane. He also worked as a custodian for 10 years for The Spokesman-Review.

Mr. Schlender was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Spokane Bowling Association and the MacIntosh Grange.

Survivors include a sister, Mildred Fricke of Rockford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Spokane School Bowling League or the Diabetes Foundation.

Joseph Supica Spokane

Service for Joseph J. Supica, 76, will be at 1 p.m. today at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. HennesseySmith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Supica, who was born in Kansas City, died Tuesday. His family moved to Spokane when he was an infant.

He worked in the automotive industry as jobber.

Survivors include a son, Rev. Stephen Supica of Spokane; a brother, James Supica Sr. of Olathe, Kan.; a sister, Dorothy Poizner of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

Janet Ferrin Eagle River, Alaska

A memorial service for Janet Millard Ferrin, 57, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Leisure Park Clubhouse in Hayden Lake, Idaho. Her ashes will be returned to her grandparents farm in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Ferrin, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Aug. 8 in Anchorage, Alaska.

She graduated from Kellogg High School and took drafting classes at North Idaho College.

In 1966 she moved to Eagle River and worked as a draftsman. She had been working for Superior Plumbing and Heating.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; a son, Scott Turner of Peters Creek, Alaska; a daughter, Michelle Turner of Juneau, Alaska; a stepdaughter, Carlee Lindquist of Peters Creek; and a stepson, Therin Ferrin of Anchorage; her mother Carol Millard of Coeur d’Alene; two sisters, Linda Hughes of Portland and Sandy Anderson of Everett, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

George LeCaire Northport, Wash.

Service for George Victor LeCaire will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pure Heart Catholic Church in Northport. Graveside service will follow at Forest Home Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home in Colville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Northport resident, Mr. LeCaire died Wednesday. He was 66.

In 1953 he graduated from Northport High School and entered the Army. He served for two years as a tank gunner during the Korean War.

He married Janice Storer in 1956.

Mr. LeCaire worked as a diamond drill operator in the Calahan Mine and later for Boyles Brothers Construction Co.

In 1961 he went to work for Great Northern Railway as a track maintenance worker. He retired in 1991 from Burlington Northern Railroad as a track supervisor.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Terry LeCaire of Colville, David LeCaire of Northport and Gary LeCaire of Kettle Falls, Wash.; two daughters, Teresa Wilson and Debra LeCaire, both of Northport; two brothers, Oliver LeCaire of Spokane and Gerald LeCaire of Colville; a sister, Eileen Norman of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and 12 grandchildren.

Edward McInerney Spokane

Vigil service for J. Edward “Ed” McInerney will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. McInerney died Wednesday. He was 89.

He worked as a wholesale grocer at Round Up Grocery Co. for 39 years.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was also a volunteer with Bishop White Seminary and the House of Charity.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lucille; four sons, Richard, William and Brian McInerney, all of Spokane, and Robert McInerney of Kamloops, British Columbia; a daughter, Lonna Stowe of Mead; a sister, Luella Howard of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or House of Charity.

Melvin Johnson Auburn, Wash.

No service will be held for Melvin O. Johnson, 79, at his request. PrinceHelton Funeral Chapel in Auburn is in charge of arrangements.

A former 50-year Spokane resident, Mr. Johnson died Saturday. He was born in Fond du Lac, Wis.

He retired from the Army Reserves as a Sgt. Maj. after serving 26 years in active duty and the reserves through the 385th Evacuation Hospital.

He later worked for Snow Sales Auto Parts Co. in Spokane. He also was affiliated with Dog ‘n Suds Drive Inn, Scotty’s Drive Inn and Taylor Boys Department Store.

He was the charter president for the Heather Hoppers Scottish group during the 1960s and was a member of St. Andrew’s Society, the Spokane Moose and Elks lodges and the Masonic Temple.

His wife of 50 years, Ann Brown McCulloch, died in 1998.

Mr. Johnson recently moved to Auburn.

Survivors include a son, Jay Johnson of Columbia Falls, Mont.; two daughters, Jane Smith of Spokane and Barbara Letson of Auburn; two sisters, Betty Bunker of Spokane and Gladys Johnson of Fond du Lac; and four grandchildren.

Roy Conner Spokane

No service will held for Roy E. Conner at his request. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Conner died Sunday. He was 87.

He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 34 years. He retired in 1975 as an engineer.

Mr. Conner was a member of the Railroad Firemen and Engineers Union and the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary; a son, Robert Conner of Spokane; three daughters, Marjorie Carter of Spokane, Patricia Bangs of Post Falls and Marilu Sanders of Yuma, Ariz.; a sister, Margueritte Cook of Spokane; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three greatgreat-grandchildren.
