71-Acre Fire Near Interstate 90 Contained
A 71-acre forest fire near Interstate 90 was contained Sunday night, after two days of efforts by nearly 500 firefighters, officials said.
Crews planned to remain overnight at the scene of the fire, which was surrounded by a 1.7 mile of fire line cut by hand, bulldozers and explosives, state Department of Natural Resources spokesman Nick Mickel said.
About 350 firefighters and three helicopters will continue mopping up today, Mickel said. There was no estimate on when the fire would be completely doused.
No homes were threatened. Four minor injuries were reported.
