Delbert Johnson Spokane

Graveside service for Delbert M. Johnson, 64, will be at 2 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 52-year Spokane resident, Mr. Johnson died Wednesday. He was born in Colville, Wash.

He served in the Army Tank Corps in Germany from 1955 to 1958.

Mr. Johnson later worked as a carpenter in the construction industry for 37 years.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; and a daughter, Penny Johnson, a brother, Les Johnson, and a sister, Chris Connor, all of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Helen (Haugen) Edgar Oldtown, Idaho

Funeral for Helen Elaine (Haugen) Edgar, 76, will be at 11 a.m. today at the American Lutheran Church in Newport, Wash. Burial will follow at the Newport Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edgar, who was born in Berthold, N.D., died Wednesday.

She moved to Bonner County in Idaho in 1927 and also lived in Spirit Lake, Coleman and Priest River, Idaho, before settling in Oldtown.

Mrs. Edgar worked as a nurses aid at the Pend Oreille Pines Nursing Home for more than 20 years. She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of American Lutheran Church.

Survivor include her husband of 57 years, Mike; two sons, Randy Edgar of Oldtown and Doug Edgar of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Marie Johnson of Spokane; four brothers, David Haugen of Spokane and Don, Ed and Gordon Haugen, all of Portland; three sisters, Betty Belling of Chewelah, Wash., Carol Rall of Portland and Judy Schaefer of Honolulu; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bonner County Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Ernest Wenz Spokane

Graveside service for Ernest Wenz will be at 10 a.m. today at Odessa (Wash.) Cemetery. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Opportunity Presbyterian Church. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wenz, who was born in Plevna, Mont., died Friday.

He graduated from high school in Simms, Mont., in 1941, and served in the Army during World War II.

In 1955 he married Dorothy Starkel.

Mr. Wenz worked as a mechanic for farm equipment for a few years in Odessa.

In 1958 he moved to Spokane and worked at Western States Equipment Co. for 30 years. He retired in 1988.

He was a member of Opportunity Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Brian Wenz of Spokane; three daughters Jeanne King of Spokane, Pamela O’Neill of New York and Peggy Ward of Nashville; a brother, Fran Wenz of Glendive, Mont.; a sister, Louise Huber of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Opportunity Presbyterian Church or Holman Gardens Retirement Center.

Robert Baker III Spokane

Funeral for Robert D. “Robbie” Baker III, 25, will be at 2 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home.

A 10-year Spokane resident, Mr. Baker died Wednesday. He was born in Pullman.

He graduated from Medical Lake High School in 1994 and had been attending Inland Northwest Vocational School.

Survivors include a son, Austin Mattozzi; and his father and stepmother, Robert and Marty Baker Jr., his mother and stepfather, Debbie Schaible and Ray Payne, two brothers, Seth and Kelly Baker, and two sisters, Stephanie and Libby Baker, all of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Andrew Eickmeyer Wild Rose Prairie

Funeral for Andrew Kenneth Eickmeyer will be at 11 a.m. today at United Methodist Church in Deer Park. Burial will follow at Wild Rose Prairie Cemetery. A reception will be held at Wild Rose Community Center. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Eickmeyer, 86, died Wednesday.

A lifetime resident of Wild Rose Prairie, Mr. Eickmeyer married Betty Hoppel in 1947 and farmed for several years. He drove 12 horses until 1932 when he started to drive a tractor.

He was a member of the Silver Sam RV Club and the Williams Valley Grange.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kenneth Eickmeyer of Wild Rose Prairie; two daughters, Edith Everitt of Spokane and Jean Case of Rathdrum, Idaho; a brother, Merwin Eickmeyer of Wild Rose Prairie; and four grandchildren.

Elizabeth (Klee) Krom Spokane

Funeral for Elizabeth (Klee) Krom, 88, was Saturday at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash. Burial followed at Colfax Cemetery.

Mrs. Krom, who was born in Colfax, died Thursday.

She worked as a waitress for various restaurants in Colfax for several years and recently had moved to Spokane.

Her husband, Harry Krom, died in 1992.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Malone of Spokane and Roger Malone of Tillamook, Ore.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Harald Westby Deer Park

Funeral for Harald Westby, 97, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Open Door Congregational Church in Deer Park. Private burial will follow at Zion Hill-Trysil Cemetery in Clayton, Wash. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Westby, who was born in Clayton died Sept. 4. His family moved to Deer Park when he was young.

He worked as a school bus maintenance superintendent for the Deer Park School District for 21 years. He retired in 1967.

Mr. Westby was also the caretaker of the Zion Hill-Trysil Cemetery in Clayton.

He was a member of Christ Gospel Fellowship Church.

His wife, Thelma, died in 1998.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Westby of Vancouver, Wash.; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

George Leitheiser Spokane

Funeral service for George W. Leitheiser, 85, will be at 10 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

A 45-year Spokane resident, Mr. Leitheiser died Monday. He was born in Detroit Lake, Minn.

He worked as a laborer in the construction industry for several years.

Mr. Leitheiser was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Otis Orchards.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lillian; a son, Steve Heid of Spokane; a brother, Raymond Leitheiser of Great Falls, Mont.; a sister, Florence Carlin of Renton, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
