Bishop will be installed
The Rev. Martin Wells will be installed as bishop of the Eastern Washington-North Idaho Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America Sept. 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth in Coeur d’Alene. The public is invited to the 10 a.m. service.
A picnic after the service will follow at McEuen Park, so churchgoers are urged bring casual clothes, a blanket and a picnic lunch. Dessert will be provided.
Kids’ ministry will be focus
“Take the Leap: The Next Millennium of Children’s Ministry” will be Friday and next Saturday at Fourth Memorial Church, 2000 N. Standard.
Friday’s seminar is designed specifically for directors of children’s ministries. The 12 workshops on Saturday are for all who work in children’s ministry.
Workshop topics include how to deal with change, ideas for creating growth, games and events for kids and families, and ideas for reaching the 21st-century child.
Cost is $89 for Friday’s seminar and $49 for Saturday’s workshops. Registration deadline is Monday.

Orientation scheduled
Pastors, lay leaders and church staff are invited to attend the ‘99 Church Leadership Orientation sponsored by the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. next Saturday at Central United Methodist Church, 518 W. Third.
The gathering will offer presentations about ongoing ministries in the community and issues that churches are working to address. About 20 organizations are expected to participate.
Cost is $8 in advance or $10 at the door, which includes lunch. Call the council at 624-5156 to register.
Greek Festival coming up
The 64th Greek Dinner Festival at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will be Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. The annual event includes food, music, dancing, a pastry shop and a boutique.
Dinners will be served nightly from 4:30 to 8:30, with meals also available to go. Hours for Oct. 2 are 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Greek pastries will be available daily from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Special events include a performance by Tatiana at 7 p.m. Oct. 1, and a performance by the St. John’s Orthodox Church choir during a 6 p.m. vespers service on Oct. 2.
Dinner tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Advance purchase is recommended. Tickets are available at the church office, City Ramp Garage at First and Stevens, and the Olympia Restaurant in Coeur d’Alene. The church is located at 1703 N. Washington in Spokane. (328-9310)
Dove winner to perform
Otis Manning Ministries will host its ministry anniversary celebration at 6 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Valley DoubleTree Hotel, 1100 N. Sullivan Road.
Helen Baylor, a Dove Award winner for her album, “Start All Over,” is the guest performer. Baylor has been nominated for several Grammy awards.
Over the course of her career, she has performed with Stevie Wonder, B.B. King and Aretha Franklin.
Admission is free, but advance reservations are required due to limited seating. Call 927-1962 for reservations.
`Satsang’ video scheduled
The video “Satsang with Nadeen” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Liberty Lake Sewer and Water District Building, 22510 E. Mission.
