Candidate Ready To Succeed Taylor
Republican state Rep. Bill Taylor of Nampa has announced he will not run for an eighth term in the Idaho House, and there already is a candidate lining up to succeed him.
Taylor, 67, told Canyon County Republicans he has decided this term will be his last.
“I haven’t enjoyed it lately,” the House Business Committee chairman said before his announcement.
Taylor said he and his wife, Shirley, plan to go on a religious mission in 2001, about the time of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Curtis McKenzie of Nampa said he will seek the GOP nomination for Taylor’s seat next year. The attorney ran against state Rep. Robert Schaeffer of Nampa in 1998 and lost in a three-way primary with 29 percent of the vote.
