St. Maries Intersection Gets Asphalt Upgrade

From Staff Reports

Repair work will begin today at the intersection of state Highway 3 and Railroad Avenue in St. Maries, where heavy truck traffic has buckled pavement and created potholes.

Crews will remove the old pavement with a rotary grinder, according to the Idaho Transportation Department. Work will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last until about 4 p.m. Drivers can expect short delays, department spokeswoman Barbara Babic said.

The pavement will be replaced Oct. 4 with an asphalt mix designed for heavy equipment. The delay between removal and replacement of the pavement is necessary because of equipment schedules for the nearby St. Maries Dike Road Project. Weather delays could slow completion of both the dike road and intersection repairs, Babic said.
