Shutouts Rule Gsl
Greater Spokane League girls soccer openers Wednesday had one thing in common: nothing.
Each of the five season-opening winners posted shutouts. University, Ferris, Lewis and Clark, Mead and Central Valley all held their opponents scoreless.
Tasha Warwick and Kati Morton scored twice apiece in the the second half of University’s 6-0 win at Rogers… . Courtney Lynn and Kate Parks scored 17 minutes apart in Ferris’ 2-0 win over Gonzaga Prep at Albi Stadium… . Also at Albi, Kara MacKenzie scored off a feed from Kayla Constable in Lewis and Clark’s 1-0 win over Shadle Park… . Alissa Riccelli had three goals and Adriane Kehl set up the first two scores in Mead’s 5-0 win over North Central at Mead Middle School… . Two goals by Raeanna Jewell gave Central Valley a 2-0 win over visiting Mt. Spokane.
Cheyenne Brown and Chelsea Zenner scored in Moscow’s 2-0 win at Lakeland in the Border League. Moscow is 3-0, tied with Lake City and right behind first-place CdA (4-0).
Volleyball
Courtney Goetz finished with 14 kills, 14 digs, seven blocks, and 13-of-13 serving in Moscow’s 15-7, 15-11 win over visiting Lake City in a Border League volleyball match. Moscow is 2-0, LC 2-1.
