Bruce Martin Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Bruce D. Martin, 60, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Foursquare Gospel Church. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Martin, who was born in Portland, died Sunday.
He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and in 1956 joined the Army National Guard as an artillery engineer. He also had served with the Air Force as an electronics engineer and was honorably discharged in 1962.
He married Yvonne Dunn in 1959 and then worked as a certified dental technician in Coeur d’Alene for five years before settling in Moscow, where he also worked as a dental technician.
He returned to Coeur d’Alene in 1969 and moved to Genesee, Idaho, in 1976. He continued his career as a dental technician. Mr. Martin returned to Coeur d’Alene in 1993.
He was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church, Moscow First Presbyterian Church, the Moscow Writer’s Block Club and Genesee Community Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Leslie Melby of Post Falls; two sons, Patrick Martin of Coeur d’Alene and Michael Martin of Seattle; a sister, Judi Walton of Post Falls; and four grandchildren.

Blaine Harbaugh Spokane
Graveside service for Blaine L. Harbaugh will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Pine Grove Cemetery in Rathdrum, Idaho. Memorial service will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Rathdrum United Methodist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Harbaugh, 83, died Friday.
He was born in Boise and moved to Spokane when he was 11. Mr. Harbaugh graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1934.
He married Maxine Staffanson in 1941.
Mr. Harbaugh graduated from Gonzaga University in 1941 with a bachelor’s degree in music. He later graduated with a master’s degree in education from Eastern Washington University.
He entered the Coast Guard in 1942 and was stationed in Bandon, Ore., during World War II. After the war, Mr. Harbaugh moved to Colfax, Wash., and taught music at the high school for eight years.
The family moved to Spokane in 1953.
He was the choral music director at West Valley High School for 24 years. He also directed the Spokane Symphony Chorale and the First Covenant Church choir.
Mr. Harbaugh was a member of First Covenant Church and the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Eddie Elder of Phoenix; two daughters, Kristine Megy of Rathdrum and Lyn Luft of Calgary, Alberta; a brother, Frank Harbaugh of Spokane; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Elsie Pym Moscow, Idaho
Memorial service for Elsie Pearl Pym, following cremation will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Moscow Cemetery. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pym, 101, died Sunday. She was born in Dunlap, Iowa.
She moved to Little Bear Ridge near Troy, Idaho, in 1908 and attended school in Troy. She graduated from Moscow High School, spending weekdays in town and traveling back to Troy on weekends.
Mrs. Pym attended beauty college in Spokane and in 1921 married T. Kenneth Pym. They later divorced.
She lived in Spokane for many years and owned two beauty shops there. She continued working until she was in her mid-80s.
Mrs. Pym returned to Little Bear Ridge in 1981 and moved to Latah Care Center in Moscow several years ago.
She was a member of Unity Church in Spokane, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Quota Club of Spokane, where she volunteered at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Survivors include a son, Donald Pym of Troy; two grandsons, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Harriet McConnel Kellogg
Memorial service for Harriet S. McConnel, 91, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McConnel, who was born in Omaha, Neb., died Saturday.
She grew up on the family farm near Nampa, Idaho, and received a bachelor of arts degree in Latin from the College of Idaho in Caldwell in 1930.
Mrs. McConnel taught junior and senior high school in the Boise valley for several years before marrying Roger McConnel in 1934.
She moved to Wallace in 1936 and settled in Kellogg several years later. She was active with the Community Concert Series and the PEO, and for 20 years had served on the board of the Kellogg Public Library, where she also had held the chair position for many years.
Her husband died in 1971.
Survivors include a son, Stephen McConnel of Wilsonville, Ore.; a daughter, Mary McConnel Davis of Seattle; and three grandchildren.

Charles `Axel’ Lundberg Spokane
Visitation for Charles “Axel” Lundberg, 88, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Born in Spokane, Mr. Lundberg died Sunday.
He graduated from Ione (Wash.) High School in 1930.
Working in civil service, Mr. Lundberg serviced bombers at Galena Army Air Depot during World War II.
He was a 59-year Spokane resident and worked as a mechanic in the automotive industry.
His wife of 50 years, Bernice, died in 1995.
Survivors include six sons, Boyd, Charles and Kim Lundberg, all of Spokane, Gary Lundberg of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Rex and Dennis Lundberg, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Inez Cameron of Spokane and Sigrid Marsden of Lake Stevens, Wash.; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Leonard Jansen Lind, Wash.
Memorial service for Leonard F. Jansen, 82, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jansen, who was born in Lind, died Sept. 21.
In 1940 he graduated cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in political science from Whitworth College. He served in the Navy during World War II as an operations officer.
In 1942 he married Jean Driver. He graduated from Columbia Law School in 1947.
Mr. Jansen worked in private practice in Lind for more than 40 years. He served as general counsel to Big Bend Electric, East Columbia Basin Irrigation District and the Washington Association of Wheat Growers.
He served on the board of directors at Deaconess Hospital and as chairman for the Spokane Library Board. He was also active in the First Safety House of Rotary International and the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries.
Mr. Jansen was a member of St. John’s Properties Diocesan Housing. He was a 33rd-degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy French of Lake Oswego, Ore.; a son, Larry Jansen of Renton, Wash.; two sisters, Freida Burroughs of Walla Walla and Gladys Watkins of Seattle; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Cathedral; Shriners Hospital for Children; or Hospice of Spokane.
Kathryn Schindler Spokane
Visitation for Kathryn L. Schindler, 108, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Schindler died Monday. She was born in Omaha, Neb.
She was a homemaker and lived in Spokane for 88 years.
Her husband, Paul, died in 1963.
Survivors include a son, Harold Schindler, and a daughter, Gladyce French, both of Spokane; a sister, Elsie Leech of Tacoma; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
