George Knowles Jr. Spokane
Visitation for George R. Knowles Jr., 73, will be from 8 to 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at Hillyard Baptist Church. Private burial will precede the service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr.
Knowles died Friday.
He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.
Mr. Knowles worked as a baker for Holsum Bakery and retired in 1968. He was a member of the Bakers Union.
In 1956 he began managing softball teams and was in charge of assigning umpires for the Spokane Metro Softball Association, the Greater Spokane League, parochial schools and various volleyball games in the Spokane area. He was the deputy commissioner of the Bakers Softball League and assistant commissioner for the Spokane Metro Softball Association.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Georgia; two daughters, Vickie Klassen and Gail Harms, both of Spokane; a brother, Donald Knowles of Kansas City, Mo.; and a granddaughter.

William Lamb Sr. Waitts Lake, Wash.
Graveside service for William Fred Lamb Sr., 81, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Chewelah (Wash.) Memorial Park. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lamb, who was born in Fallon, Nev., died Friday.
Mr. Lamb served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a truck driver in road construction.
He lived near Waitts Lake for more than 40 years.
His wife of 52 years, Rachel, died in 1991.
Mr. Lamb is survived by two sons, Arnold and William Lamb Jr., both of Spokane; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Edna Schuster Spokane
Funeral Mass for Edna E. Schuster, 81, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 44-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Schuster died Friday. She was born in Newell, S.D.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband of 46 years, Joseph, died in 1986.
Survivors include three sons, David and Galen Schuster, both of Spokane, and Gary Schuster of Kirkland, Wash.; two daughters, Carole Dillon of Spokane and Bonnie Broughton of Moses Lake; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Kathleen (Stafford) McDonald Nashua, N.H.
Funeral Mass for Kathleen (Stafford) McDonald, a former Spokane resident, will be at 2 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Spokane, Mrs. McDonald died Friday. She was 79.
She was raised and educated in Otis Orchards.
She was an executive assistant for RCA. She worked in association with the Kennedy Space Center.
Mrs. McDonald moved to Nashua in 1992.
Her husband of 47 years, Wilbur `Webb’ McDonald, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three children, Kathy Boot of New Hampshire, Charles McDonald of Connecticut and Lynn McDonald of Florida; a sister, Frances Burchard of Spokane; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Schulte Spokane
Funeral Mass for Dorothy E. Schulte, 92, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Miss Schulte, who was born in Mankato, Minn., died Thursday.
She was a 91-year Spokane resident and worked as a clerk for the city of Spokane.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Paul Mader Pullman
Visitation for Paul C. Mader, 89, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Service is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Pullman City Cemetery.
Mr. Mader, who was born in Clear Creek, Wash., died Wednesday.
He farmed with his brother, Fred, in the Clear Creek area until 1937 when he married Eleanor Hallon.
In 1941 they moved to Pullman and he continued to farm in the Falon area until retiring.
His wife died in 1981.
In 1985 he married Martha Elliott Raynor.
Mr. Mader was an honorary life member of the Washington State Grange. He was also a member of the Washington Association of Wheat Growers, the Spokane Club and the Club 30 dance club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mark and Greg Mader, both of Spokane; and a brother, Fred Mader of Palouse, Wash.
Agnes `Nancy’ Walker Spokane
Memorial service for Agnes E. “Nancy” Walker, 78, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Walker, who was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, died Thursday.
She was a 55-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Her husband, Joseph, died in 1977.
Survivors include three sons, Bruce and Glenn Walker, both of Spokane, and Les Walker of Almira, Wash.; a daughter, Kris Fischer of Spokane; a sister, Jean Stevenson of Lind, Wash.; six grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

Eunice (Phillips) O’Brien Spokane
Vigil service for Eunice (Phillips) O’Brien, 87, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Service is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Davenport, Wash., Mrs. O’Brien died Sunday.
Her family moved to Spokane in 1920 and she married Robert O’Brien in 1938.
Mrs. O’Brien and her husband lived in Newport, Wash., until returning to Spokane in 1942. They later divorced.
In 1962 she received a real estate license and from 1972 to 1984 she operated Eunice O’Brien Realty.
Mrs. O’Brien served on the Multiple-Listing Service Steering Committee.
Survivors include four daughters, Sally O’Brien of Spokane, Mary O’Brien of Geneva, Ill., Sharon Scuzzo of Niles, Mich., and Maureen O’Brien of Phoenix; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Matt Davis Spokane

Mr. Davis, who was born in Palestine, Ohio, died Friday.
He was a 22-year Spokane resident. Mr. Davis worked as a tool-and-die maker. He was a member of the Cousteau Society.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Donna; four sons, Derek, Jeffrey, Elliott and Matt Davis Jr., all of Spokane; a daughter, Lisa Thompson of Ketchikan, Alaska; two brothers, Dudley Davis of California and David Davis of Ohio; two sisters, Salley Davis and Mitzi Hall, both of Arizona; and seven grandchildren.
Robert Hill Spokane
Memorial service for Robert E. Hill, a lifetime Spokane resident, was Monday at Heritage Funeral Home. Mr. Hill, 51, died Thursday.
He graduated from Shadle Park High School and served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
He worked for Colvin-Harwood Properties. He also worked as a carpenter and owned a construction company.
Survivors include his wife of nine years, Pamela; two daughters, Trese Markee of Spokane and Angela Derry of Long Beach, Calif.; his father, Eugene Hill of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Margaret (Cozzetto) Miller Spokane
Service for Margaret (Cozzetto) Miller will be at 2 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Miller, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Wednesday. She was 82.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband of 49 years, Lonnie, died in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Miller of Spokane and Robert Miller of Cocoa, Fla.; and three sisters, Gloria Alfonso of Spokane and Vera Kachel and Caroline Felice, both of Santa Cruz, Calif.

Vivian (Minyard) Hegstad Sedro-Woolley, Wash.
Graveside service for Vivian (Minyard) Hegstad, 94, will be at 1 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane. Lemley Funeral Chapel in Sedro-Woolley is in charge of arrangements.
A former longtime Spokane resident, Mrs. Hegstad died Friday. She was born in Sprague, Wash.
She received a bachelors degree in education from Washington State College in 1929.
Mrs. Hegstad taught junior high and high school in Idaho and Spokane.
She moved to Sedro-Woolley six years ago.
Mrs. Hegstad was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Audubon Park United Methodist Church. She was a past president of the Associated Garden Club of Spokane.
Her husband of 50 years, Ben, died in 1991.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Hegstad of Mount Vernon, Wash.
Betty (Martin) Carey Spokane
Service for Betty Elaine (Martin) Carey, 62, will be at 11 a.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Pines Cemetery.
A 55-year Spokane Valley resident, Mrs. Carey died Saturday. She was born in Cheyenne, Wyo.
She graduated from West Valley High School in 1955.
Mrs. Carey was a homemaker and a member of Greenacres Baptist Church, the Valley West Christian Women’s Club and TOPS.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Paul; three sons, Glen, John and Mike Carey, all of Spokane; three daughters, Paula Stowe, Jan Templeton and Mary Jane Carey, all of Spokane; a sister, Pam Thomas; and 10 grandchildren.

Jack Koyama Spokane
Graveside service for Jack F. Koyama, 84, will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Ferry, Wash., Mr. Koyama died March 26.
His family moved to Spokane when he was a child. He graduated from North Central High School.
In 1941 he married Tazuye Yamamoto.
Mr. Koyama was an insurance agent for Prudential Life Insurance Co. and later for Aetna Life and Casualty. He later operated Koyama Insurance Agency.
He was a member of the El Katif Shrine and the Moose Lodge.
He was a charter member of Seiki-Kan Judojo. Mr. Koyama was president of the Northwest Black Belt Judo Association and was a judo chairman for the National Amateur Athletic Union.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jackie Wheeler of Spokane; a brother, Spady Koyama of Spokane; a sister, Hannah Howell of Quincy, Wash.; and a granddaughter.
Frances Valley Spokane
Memorial service for Frances L. Valley, 67, was Monday at First Convenant Church.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Mrs. Valley died Friday.
In 1950 she immigrated to Canada, and lived in Trail and Nelson, British Columbia, before marrying Herbert Valley in 1953.
Mrs. Valley was a 47-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Charles Valley of Puyallup, Wash.; two daughters, Georgina Rice of Spokane and Jacqueline Mutch of LaGrande, Ore.; her mother, Mary Dyball of Vancouver, British Columbia; and two brothers, Jimmy Dyball of Aldergrove, British Columbia, and Alexander Dyball of Kamloops, British Columbia.
