Commanders Jazz Ensemble Sweeps In For Three Free Concerts
The 11-piece Commanders Jazz Ensemble, part of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, will give a trio of free concerts in the area next week.
On Sunday, the group performs at 3 p.m. at the Masonic Temple in Spokane.
Monday the group performs in Pullman at the WSU Kimbrough Music Hall, Room 101, at 7:30 p.m.
The band performs in Spokane on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Spokane Falls Community College Music Building Auditorium.
The Jazz Ensemble is based at Travis Air Force Base in California and has toured extensively, including appearances at Carnegie Hall. The group performs jazz from the ‘40s through the ‘90s.
The band’s instrumentation includes three saxophones, two trumpets, two trombones and a rhythm section of bass, percussion and piano, and a vocalist. The SFCC Community Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dave Wakeley, will perform with the Commanders Jazz Ensemble at the SFCC concert.
