Kaiser Aluminum Corp. has nominated James T. Hackett to a new seat on its board of directors.

Hackett, 46, of Houston, is president and chief executive officer of Ocean Energy Inc., an oil and natural gas exploration company. Hackett, if elected, will increase the number of directors to seven.

Hackett has extensive experience in the energy field, an important area for Kaiser, a heavy user of power.

The other six directors nominated for re-election, who would serve until 2001, are Kaiser CEO Ray Milchovich, former CEO George Haymaker Jr., Robert Cruikshank, Ezra Levin, James Woods and Charles Hurwitz, majority owner of Kaiser’s parent, Maxxam Corp.
