Region I meet: Washington State Univ., May 13

Road to state: Top two boys and girls singles, boys and girls doubles and mixed doubles go.

State: Boise, May 19-20

Upcoming matches: Coeur d’Alene and Lake City co-host the first Border League tourney Saturday. LC and CdA square off in their first dual Monday and meet again May 10.

Coeur d’Alene Vikings

Coaches: Eric Plummer (boys), Eileen Johnson (girls)

Top players: Boys - Nick Ormos, senior, doubles; Craig Towery, sr., doubles; Court Sutmiller, sr., singles; Ryan Hanson, junior, doubles; Ryan Hustoft, jr., doubles; Matt Hebener, jr., mixed doubles; Jason Paulson, jr., mixed doubles. Girls - Ellen Schwoerer, sr., singles; Lindsey Wilkens, sr., mixed doubles; Shannon Moore, jr., mixed doubles; Liz Wroe, jr., singles/doubles; Shayla Anderson, jr., singles/doubles.

At a glance: Ormos returns off mixed doubles team that placed fourth at state last year. He and Towery teamed up as sophomores.

Johnson has several state contenders, but none has state experience.

Lake City Timberwolves

Top players: Boys - Matt Souza, jr., singles/doubles; Tyler Wagstaff, jr., singles/doubles; Adam Wilson, jr., singles. Girls - Eileen McKeown, sr., singles; Itumeleng Khasane, sr., singles; Kasha Ho, sr., singles.

At a glance: Souza teamed with his brother, Dave, since-graduated, as a state-qualifying doubles tandem last year. McKeown also qualified.

Despite not winning one singles or doubles regional individual title last year, LC captured the coed team title, snapping CdA’s three-year string.

Class B

District I-II meet: Site to be determined, May 12-13

Road to state: Top six boys and girls singles, boys and girls doubles and mixed doubles qualify.

State: Boise, May 19-20

Falls Christian Eagles

Coach: Rick Alexander Top players: Boys - Dan Wheeler, soph., doubles; Matt Larson, soph., doubles. Girls - Jackie Poole, jr., singles.

At a glance: With so many state berths available, Alexander believes other Eagles could challenge.

FCA is the lone school smaller than A-1 to field a tennis program in North Idaho. The Eagles match up with players from the Central Idaho and White Pine leagues to determine state berths.
