Boy Seriously Hurt When Vehicle Hits Him

A Rathdrum boy was in critical condition after being hit by a sport-utility vehicle on state Highway 53 Friday afternoon.

Brad Brumbaugh, 12, ran out in front of an SUV being driven by Debrah L. Wood, 35, of Rathdrum, according to the Idaho State Police.

Wood was heading west on Highway 53 around 3:15 p.m. in her 1997 Honda Passport. Brumbaugh ran out in front of her and was struck, troopers said.

Brumbaugh was taken to Kootenai Medical Center and was listed in critical condition. He was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center where he was still in surgery late Friday.
