Model For New Dollar Boosts Tribal Museum
One of the Shoshone-Bannock tribes’ most famous members is giving the tribal museum a touch of star power.
Randy ‘L Teton, the model for Sacagawea on the new golden dollar coin, is opening a new display called “In Honor of Sacagawea: Face of Gold” at the museum.
A promotion for the new coin, it will feature some of the memorabilia she has collected since she started her work with the U.S. Mint. The display will run for at least the next month.
It will help the museum attract visitors, especially this week while the annual Sho-Ban Festival is also in town, museum director Rosemary Devinney said.
“We’ll have somebody famous to talk about,” she said. “There’s not too many Sho-Bans who have become celebrities.”
