Gu’S Kappa Rho Inducts Students

Kappa Rho, Gonzaga University’s chapter of the honor society Alpha Sigma Lambda, recently inducted the following students as new members:

Vicki G. Craigen, Claudia Jean Davis, Vicki Renee Dean, David T. Hayes, Steven Malubay, Lawrence Massey, Katherine Sherrick and Margaret Susan Wittman, all of Spokane; Rebecca Leach, Medical Lake; Kelly A. Welz, Moses Lake; and Angeline Whaley Mylan, Malo, Wash.

To be eligible for the honor society, this year’s inductees must have completed 24 credit hours with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.6, putting them in the top 10 percent of nontraditional students at Gonzaga.

Christopher Blodgett, senior research associate for the Washington Institute for Mental Illness Research Training, has been awarded the 2000 Washington State University Spokane Faculty Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding teaching, research and community service.

Blodgett, who has been with WSU Spokane since 1995, is also assistant director of community program development at WIMIRT and an associate professor in human development and cooperative extension.

He received a bachelor of science degree in psychology at Union College, a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the State University of New York in 1976, and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Manitoba in 1983.

The award was presented at the WSU Spokane commencement ceremonies May 5. Blodgett received an engraved pewter medallion and a check for $1,000.

Benjamin Brattebo of Liberty Lake, a junior majoring in environmental engineering in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University, was recently inducted into the university’s chapter of Tau Beta Pi Honor Society.

To be eligible for consideration, undergraduate students must rank in the top eighth of their class in their next-to-last year or in the top fifth of their class in their last college year. Those scholastically eligible are further considered on the basis of personal integrity, breadth of interest both inside and outside engineering, adaptability and unselfish activity.

Wallace R.G. Langbehn II, U.S. Air Force, Lorton, Va., was recently promoted from major to lieutenant colonel.

Wallace is stationed at the Pentagon and is director of the Theater Battle Arena, chief of the Analysis Development Branch and chief of the Modeling and Simulation Branch.

He is the son of Wallace R.G. Langbehn, Spokane, and a 1981 graduate of Gonzaga University.
