Are Pcs Finally Becoming Passe?

The personal computer may not be headed for the dust bin, but there are telltale signs that the post-PC era is dawning.

So-called Internet appliances are the consensus choice to replace full-featured computers.

Authorities believe that products that eliminate pointing, clicking, dropping, dragging and other manual gyrations will be highly prized.

* Simplified surfing: World Wide Web surfers often abandon the Net in frustration. It’s a case of information overload and getting a virtual runaround.

Aggregators are hoping to streamline the process by coalescing information grabbed from all over the Internet inside a single browser window.

Some services have concentrated on ways to assemble bank balances and other financial information onto personal, password-protected pages. Others allow users to drag and drop their own “views” of Web sites into a browser window, then share them with co-workers and friends.
