Cigarette Sparks 25-Acre Grass Fire

From Staff

Local firefighters battled a grass fire near Stateline on Tuesday that started with a discarded cigarette.

Firefighters were sent to the grass fire near Highway 53 and Beck Road around 10:30 a.m.

That fire had quickly spread to 10 acres and threatened three homes.

It was contained after growing to about 25 acres. No homes were damaged, according to Post Falls Fire reports.

About 40 firefighters, 20 trucks and a helicopter dumping water on the blaze were called to the scene.
