Top Readers In Library Summer Program Named
The top local readers in the Coeur d’Alene Public Library Summer Reading Program recently totalled nearly 632 hours of reading time - 37,897 minutes.
Nine-year old Doc Rosenthal, logged the most hours with 9,160 minutes of reading time in the Extraterrestrial Explorers (Age 9-11) category. Other winners in this age group were Dylan Mosgrove, 9, with 5,060 minutes; and Alex Doler, 10, with 3,414 minutes.
Younger readers times included both reading and being read to.
Top readers and their times are listed by group category.
Moon Walkers (age 6-8): G.G. Templeman, 6, logged 5,010 minutes; Dimitri Christo, 8, had 2,768 minutes; and Kady Suhr, 7, logged 2,535 minutes of reading time.
Preschool Group (Age 3-5): Sienna Templeman, 2, had 4,560 minutes; Tanner Horton, 4, logged 2,785 minutes; and Dirk Seymour, 4, had 2,605 minutes.
Carla J. Taylor, Post Falls, recently received a bachelor of general studies degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane and was named to the GU president’s list for spring semester.
To be included on the list, students must receive a minimum 3.7 grade-point average.
Scott Wallace, son of Marc and Nancy Sue Wallace of Coeur d’Alene, was recently named to the College of Arts and Sciences quarterly dean’s list at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Georgina “Gina” Giffin, a former Post Falls resident, has been named an AllAmerican Scholar by the U.S.
Achievement Academy and will appear in the nationally published, All-American Scholar Yearbook.
Giffin attended grades 1-7 at St. Dominic’s Girls School in Post Falls. She moved to Chicago last year and recently graduated from the eighth grade at Pope John Paul II School and maintained a 4.2 grade-point average out of 5.0.
She is the daughter of former Post Falls residents Lyle and Maria Giffin of Chicago, and the granddaughter of Dorothy Giffin of Post Falls.
Erica Orto, Coeur d’Alene, recently graduated from North Idaho College and received an associate of science degree. Her name was misspelled in a past Achievements column.
