New School District Sees First Levy Pass
Voters in the state’s newest school district approved its first supplemental levy Tuesday with 59 percent of the vote.
The West Bonner County School District, based in Priest River, had asked for a two-year, $362,000 peryear supplemental levy to help fund testing, new computers, textbooks, curriculum development, training, school buses and start-up costs for an alternative school.
A total of 803 voters turned out for the election, and 474 voted in favor.
The school district was formed last year after voters in the former Bonner County School District voted to split the district into two.
In a spring vote, the Lake Pend Oreille School District passed a $1.6 million supplemental levy with 58 percent of the vote.
