Local Students Receive WSU Scholarships
The following students have received scholarships from the Washington State University Honors College.
Kathryn M. Taylor, Cheney, received a $1,000 Johnson Scholarship. She is the daughter of Dale and Neva Taylor, Rosalia, Wash., and a 1998 graduate of Cheney High School. She is a member of the Circle K service club and the Geology Club.
Jerico B. Cairns, Creston, Wash., received a $375 Buckley and Daughter Scholarship and is majoring in zoology/pre-med.
Cairns is the son of Pam Anyan-Smith, Creston, and Tim Cairns, Everett. He is a 1997 graduate of Creston High School.
Anna M. McFaul, Moses Lake, received a $1,000 Johnson Scholarship and is majoring in business and political science.
McFaul is the daughter of Gerry and Diana McFaul and is a 1999 Moses Lake Christian School graduate.
Pamela C. Mejia, Pullman, received a $1,000 Johnson Scholarship and at 14 years old, she is the youngest student ever admitted as a full-time student at Washington State University.
Mejia is the daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth Siler and a member of the freshman honor society Phi Eta Sigma.
Amy M. Simpson, Pullman, has received a $1,000 Johnson Scholarship. She is the daughter of Gary and Julie Simpson and a 1999 graduate of Pullman High School.
Jacqueline T. Nacke is the recipient of the Lynn Triplett History Scholarship for the 2000-2001 school year.
Nacke is the daughter of James and Janice Nacke, Kennewick. She is currently a junior at Eastern Washington University, majoring in social studies secondary education and plans to become a teacher.
Jed A. Mickelson, Spokane, was awarded the $1,000 Wayne Stanford History Scholarship by the Department of History at Washington State University for the 2000-2001 academic year. He is a senior studying history education and plans to teach at the middle-school or high-school level. Mickelson is the son of Beverly Mickelson, Spokane, and Bruce Mickelson, Tacoma. He is a 1996 East Valley High School graduate.
