Horace Wenger Sandpoint

Visitation for Horace Wade Wenger, 76, will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Service will follow at noon at the Church of the Nazarene in Sandpoint. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Born in Sandpoint, Mr. Wenger died Monday.

He attended schools in Kootenai, Idaho, and graduated in 1943 from Sandpoint High School.

He married Grace Dunkelberger in 1947. They lived in Sandpoint, where he worked for the Forest Service on the construction of area lookout towers. Mr. Wenger also owned a dairy farm and was a wood craftsman and gardener.

He was a founding member of Sandpoint Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gordon Wenger of Bothell, Wash., Charles Wenger of Barron, Wis., and John Wenger of Post Falls; two sisters; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Micah Drenker Post Falls

Private service for Micah Daniel Drenker, 28, will be held at a later date. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Drenker, who was born in Boise, died Dec. 7.

He grew up in Boise before moving to Post Falls in 1989. He graduated in 1991 from Post Falls High School.

Mr. Drenker had lived at Fairwinds Home in Post Falls since 1989. He enjoyed animals.

Survivors include his mother, Jo Noble of Boulder, Colo.; and two sisters, Katie Ramirez of Portland, Ore., and Kara Peterson of Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Neil Chamberlain Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Neil G. Chamberlain, 75, will be Saturday at noon at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Chamberlain, who died Saturday, was born in Aberdeen, Wash.

He lived in the Coeur d’Alene area for the last 36 years. He had worked at Kootenai Electric Cooperative in Hayden, Idaho.

Mr. Chamberlain was active with the Coeur d’Alene Lions Club and the Kootenai Amateur Radio Service, and was a Korean War veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; four sons, Don, Dennis, Dave and Dean Chamberlain, all of Coeur d’Alene; two daughters, Donna Williams and Denise Chamberlain; two stepchildren, Angela Deacon and Shawn Beare; two sisters, Jan Eager and Lori Lee Gifford; and 11 grandchildren.

Kevin Swenson Mullan, Idaho

Memorial service for Kevin Lee Swenson, 32, will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Wallace United Methodist Church. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Swenson, who was born in Lewiston, Idaho, died Dec. 7.

He lived in Sandpoint, and worked as a logger. He was known for his goal of accomplishing, “five loads on the deck” and the “Lord of the Landing salute.”

Mr. Swenson moved to the Silver Valley in 1999 and recently worked at the Wallace Inn.

He was a member of the Sandpoint United Methodist Church and enjoyed outdoor recreation, bowling, camping, archery, art, fishing, and mechanical repair.

Survivors include his parents, Jean and Jane Swenson of Mullan; three brothers, Randy Swenson of Genesee, Idaho, Greg Swenson of Pismo Beach, Calif., and Chris Swenson of Moscow, Idaho.

Donald Barker Spokane

Service for Donald Barker, 72, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

Born in Newport, Wash., Mr. Barker died Tuesday.

He was a longtime Spokane resident and worked as a logger.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Delores; two sons, David Barker of Spokane and Daryl Barker of Enumclaw, Wash.; a daughter, Susan Jones of Veradale; three sisters, Gladys Hershey, Ann Collins and Patricia Saylor; and seven granddaughters.

Roy Chamberlain Sandpoint

Memorial service for Roy Ellis Chamberlain, 92, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint.

Mr. Chamberlain, who was born in Colville, Wash., died Friday. He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School. He was a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II and served under Gen. George Patton in France and Germany during the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Chamberlain returned to the Northwest after his military service and worked as a lumber grader and ranchhand in Harrison, Idaho.

He then lived in Rathdrum, Idaho, before moving to Sandpoint. He married Nancy Lee in 1987.

Mr. Chamberlain was a wood craftsman and specialized in gun stocks. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, camping and backpacking.

Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Randal Jydstrup of Umatilla, Ore., and David Jydstrup of Sandpoint; a stepdaughter, Nancy Davis of Ione, Wash.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Anna Schmehl Spokane

Visitation for Anna C. Schmehl, 87, will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Park.

Mrs. Schmehl, who was born in Reading, Pa., died Monday.

She lived in Post Falls for 35 years until moving to Spokane 10 years ago. She was a homemaker.

Her husband died in 1979.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Schmehl of Colbert, Leslie Schmehl of Post Falls and Donald Schmehl of the Marshall Islands; several brothers and sisters, and seven grandchildren.

Madeline Brown Spokane

No service will be held for Madeline M. Brown, 95, at her request. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Genesee, Idaho, Mrs. Brown died Dec. 6.

She graduated in 1923 from Genesee High School and in 1927 from the University of Idaho.

In 1928 she married Fred Brown. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Alumni Association for UI. She served on the resident council at Canterbury Court.

Her husband died in 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Merle Whipple of Spokane; four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Ethel (King) Hall Spokane

Funeral Mass for Ethel Mary (King) Hall, 96, was Wednesday at the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes. Burial was at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston.

Born in Plum City, Wis., Mrs. Hall died Nov. 30.

She graduated from high school in Spirit Lake, Idaho.

She taught in Washington for two years and then worked as a home service advisor for six years for Washington Water Power.

In 1940 she married Clifford Hall. They lived in Lewiston, where she was an advertising manager for the Lewiston Tribune.

Mrs. Hall and her family moved to Colville, Wash., in 1946, where they operated a restaurant until 1950. She then operated a book store until it sold in 1968 and then worked as a computer operator at Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville. She retired in 1975.

She spent some winters in Mesa, Ariz., where she taught Spanish to seniors.

In 1989 she moved to Spokane.

Mrs. Hall was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral, the Altar Society, the Stewardship Committee and the Social Concern’s Committee. She was a member of the Parish Pastoral Council and in 1996 served as president of the council.

Since 1991 she taught Spanish at the South Hill Senior Center.

Her husband died in 1968.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Linda Kelley of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren.

Myron `Mike’ Covey St. Maries

Memorial service for Myron “Mike” Covey, 85, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Maries Community Presbyterian Church. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Covey, who was born in St. Maries, died Monday.

He grew up in St. Maries and then worked with his father in Montana. In 1942 he married June Yabsley. They settled in St. Maries.

Mr. Covey was a sawyer in the timber industry. He moved to Spokane in 1958 and continued to work in the woods.

He and his wife later divorced and he returned to St. Maries in the early 1970s and worked as a bartender at area taverns until 1976.

He enjoyed bowling and cribbage.

Survivors include four sons, Michael Covey of Lacey, Wash., Kevin Covey of Marysville, Wash., Terry Covey of Las Vegas and Eddie Covey of Colville, Wash.; three daughters, Betty Irvine and Esther Humphrey, both of St. Maries, and Ellen Conrad of Spokane; and nine grandchildren.

Katherine Conrad Harrison, Idaho

Memorial service for Katherine E. Conrad, 34, will be at 5 p.m. today at Rose’s Cafe in Harrison. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Conrad, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.

She grew up in Coeur d’Alene and in 1984 married Ted Conrad. They worked together in the drywall construction business. She also worked for the Kodak Corp. in Colorado.

The couple settled in Harrison in 1991.

Survivors include her husband; two children, Dustin and Merinda Conrad, both at home; her parents, Daniel and Beverly Young of Fort Collins, Colo.; a sister, Deanetta Speck of Colorado Springs; and her grandfather, William Young of Spokane.

Mary Roderick Spokane

Memorial service for Mary I. Roderick, 84, will be at 2 p.m. today in Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 40-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Roderick died Saturday. She was born in Hopkins, Mo.

She owned and operated various taverns in the Spokane area. She also volunteered at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Corbin Senior Center and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Pamela McBride of Spokane and Debra Lewis of Hawaii; and two great-grandchildren.

Judith (Forbes) Wirth Spokane

Memorial service for Judith A. “Judy” (Forbes) Wirth, 58, will be at 5 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Wirth died Sunday.

She worked as a clerk in the business office for Shaw Middle School.

Survivors include her husband, James; a son, Chris Wirth, and a daughter, Penny Fleming, both of Spokane; her mother, Clara Forbes of Spokane; a sister, Jan Forbes of Rochester, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Brent `Mac’ McKee Spokane

Memorial service for Brent “Mac” McKee, 67, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

A 30-year Spokane resident, Mr. McKee died Saturday. He was born in Spokane.

He served in the Navy as a storekeeper during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired in 1971.

His wife, Carol, died in November.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Yost of Spokane, and Michael and William McKee, both of Seattle; three daughters, Nellie McKee of Spokane, Brenda McKee of Arizona and Leslie Waits of Nebraska; a brother, Dale McKee of Spokane; a sister, Darlene Orestad of Renton, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren.

Lucile Lange Hayden, Idaho

Memorial service for Lucile Harriett Lange, 91, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lange, who was born in Harrison, Idaho, died Sunday.

She married Charles Lange in 1939 and was a longtime Coeur d’Alene area resident.

Mrs. Lange was a teacher and retired as head of the English department at North Idaho College in 1974.

She served as past president of the Kootenai Medical Center Auxiliary and was a member of Alpha Phi and the P.E.O.

Her husband died in 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Lange Jr. of Atlanta and Richard Lange of Los Altos, Calif.; two sisters, Helen Rogers and Jean Nolan, both of Seattle; a brother, Henry Glindeman Jr. of Florida; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Evelyn (Cope) Tesch Washtucna, Wash.

Service for Evelyn L. (Cope) Tesch, 61, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Washtucna Community Church. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Washtucna. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Tesch, who was born in Harrisburg, Pa., died Tuesday.

Her family moved to Spanaway, Wash., when she was 4 years old. She lived in the Tacoma area until marrying Dick Tesch in 1956.

She and her husband lived in Moses Lake and Ephrata, Wash., until moving to Benge, Wash., in 1961. They lived in Ritzville from 1964 to 1966, when they moved to Washtucna.

She worked as a cook in restaurants in Ritzville, Washtucna and the surrounding area.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Tom Tesch of Deer Park; three daughters, Carol Tesch of Washtucna, Cindy Widger of Lind, Wash., and Darla Bolton of Dunbarton, Scotland; a brother, Earl Cope of Phoenix; and eight grandchildren.

Song Yu Airway Heights

Service for Song Kun Yu, 68, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

Mr. Yu, who died Friday, was born in Korea.

He was a 21-year Airway Heights resident and owned and operated the All Season’s Motel in Airway Heights.

He was a member of the Korean Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Wol Hwai Koo; and a daughter, Soo Min Yu of Seattle.

Wesley Hedrick Spokane

Visitation for Wesley Gene Hedrick, 68, will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Hedrick, who was born in South Dakota, died Saturday.

From 1953 to 1968 he served in the Air Force.

He was a 35-year Spokane resident and worked as a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Verna; two sons, Wesley Hedrick of Spokane and Howard Hedrick of Otis Orchards; and three grandchildren.
