Ewart Comes Through As Pirates Win On Road

Erica Ewart scored 17 points and hit a game-clinching 3-pointer with 35 seconds remaining Saturday to lift the Whitworth Pirates to a 58-52 non-conference women’s basketball victory over the Colorado College Tigers at the Nebraska Wesleyan Tournament in Lincoln, Neb.

Mindy Bandy and Jamie Wakefield each scored 12 points for the Pirates (2-2). Wakefield has scored 996 career points. Melody Mathews pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Eleanor Kelley tossed in a gamehigh 23 points for the Tigers (2-7).

Daniela Schroeder tallied 21 points and Rebecca Triplett added 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds to lead the Sasquatch to a victory over the Clippers at the Walla Walla Crossover Tournament.

Amber Pantages scored 15 points, Lindsay Weiss had 12 points and seven assists and Carmi Eberle added 10 points, five assists and two steals for Community Colleges of Spokane (6-3).

Michelle Mendelson hit 7 of 12 3-pointers and scored a game-high 30 points for South Puget Sound.

Andre Ervin was his usual dominating self, scoring game highs in points (31) and rebounds (15) to spark the Sasquatch to their victory over the Dolphins in the Edmonds Crossover Tournament.

Shadle Park grad Demetrius Scott added 24 points and five assists for CCS (6-4), hitting 6 of 7 from 3-point range, while DeShawn Bedford chipped in with 12 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

Willis Woods connected on 6 of 11 3-point attempts and finished with a team-high 28 points for Shoreline.

The Sasquatch controlled the boards by a 54-33 margin.
