Cda Teacher Wins Environmental Honor
Coeur d’Alene High School teacher Lori Frank is among 37 teachers nationwide selected for the White House Council on Environmental Quality Teacher Professional Development Award.
The President’s Council on Environmental Quality, in partnership with the National Environmental Education and Training Foundation, sponsors the award to recognize teachers who incorporate environment-based education in their teaching.
Frank will receive $1,500 for professional development activities.
She is well-known for her advanced forestry management program at Coeur d’Alene and Lake City high schools. It also is offered at Priest River and Elk River high schools.
The program enables students to explore forestry careers through a combination of classroom instruction and field experience.
Frank also has developed a mentoring program in which students work with professionals at the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge, U.S. Forest Service and state departments of Lands and Fish and Game.
She has taught in the Coeur d’Alene district since 1984.
