George Thompson Jr. Spokane
Memorial Mass for George R. Thompson Jr., 76, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thompson, who was born in Daytona Beach, Fla., died Sunday. He was a 30-year Spokane resident.
He served in the Air Force for 33 years and was a navigator and radar navigator during three wars. During World War II he navigated on B-17s, during the Korean War on B-29s and during the Vietnam War on B-52s.
Mr. Thompson was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the Retired Air Force Officers Association.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Thelma; three daughters, Patricia Thompson of Spokane and Marie Thompson and Elizabeth Arcamo, both of Kent, Wash.; four brothers, William, John and Robert Thompson, all of Port Orange, Fla., and Ira Thompson of Silver Springs, Md.; three sisters, Jane Billingsley and Elin DeGraw, both of Tallahassee, Fla., and Dorothy Wheeler of Holly Hill, Fla.; and one grandchild.

Patricia `Petie’ Timm Loon Lake, Wash.
Memorial service for Patricia “Petie” Davies Timm, 76, will be today at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Kirkland, Wash.
Mrs. Timm, who was born in Portland, died Sunday.
She spent most of her childhood in Spokane and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1941.
Mrs. Timm attended the University of Washington where she studied music.
In 1944 she married Robert Timm. They farmed in Harrington, Wash., for 20 years before moving to Olympia for six years. They lived in Washington, D.C., until 1976, when they retired. They spent summers at Loon Lake and winters in Maui, Hawaii.
Mrs. Timm was a third-generation member of the PEO.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Terry Moos of Kirkland and Luanne Caylor of Carmel, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Merle `Leroy’ McCosker St. Maries
Memorial service for Merle “Leroy” McCosker, 62, was Monday at St. Maries Foursquare Church.
Mr. McCosker, who was born in Oakland, died Dec. 11.
He grew up in Northern California and was a farmer and rancher and also worked at various rodeos.
He married Marylin Scheibly In 1958 and they moved to St. Maries in 1976. She died in 1988.
He married Pat Monzingo in 1991.
Mr. McCosker had worked as a longhaul truck driver and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Mike McCosker of Illinois, Donald McCosker of Ukiah, Calif., David McCosker of St. Maries and Ronnie McCosker of Oregon; a stepson, Michael Morris of Pasco; four stepdaughters, Rosie and Sara Morris, and Sharon Hollingshead, all of St. Maries, and Kitty Greek of Arkansas; two brothers, Stanley and Perry McCosker, both of California; 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Louis Brannan Spokane
Service for Louis Willoughby Brannan, 72, will be at noon today at Riplinger Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at the Universalist Church.
Mr. Brannan, who was born in Colfax, Wash., died Monday.
He was raised on a wheat and dairy farm outside Pullman. He had served in the Coast Guard as a fireman first class and spent time on the USS McLane. He also spent time staffing a lighthouse in Alaska.
In 1948 he married Carol Sodorff. They moved to Spokane in 1954.
He worked in the sales department of Kraft Foods Inc., retiring in 1983.
Mr. Brannan was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 2 and Wandermere Seniors Golf Association.
His wife died in 1993.
Survivors include his companion, Rose Vill; a son, Thomas Brannan of Spokane; two daughters, Carla Brannan of Spokane and Cathy Maygra of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Dale Brannan; and one grandson.

Quentin Keller Uniontown, Wash.
Funeral Mass for Quentin M. Keller, 79, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Uniontown. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Keller, who was born in Uniontown, died Monday.
He graduated in 1938 from Colton High School.
He married Jeanette Busch in 1945. They lived in Lewiston for a short time before moving to Spokane, where he worked at a tire factory during World War II. He and his wife later moved back to Uniontown.
Mr. Keller was an electrician and worked at Standifer Electric in Pullman, Hanson Electric in Moscow, Idaho, and at Washington State University until retiring in 1986.
He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Uniontown Knights of Columbus and the Clarkston (Wash.) Moose Lodge.
His wife preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Dan Keller of Clarkston and Darrell Keller of Cary, N.C.; two daughters, Janny Davis of Uniontown and Kathy Moneymaker of Knoxville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Dallas Hawkins II Calgary
Memorial service for Dallas Eual Hawkins II, 77, will be at 3 p.m. today at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Spokane. Heritage Funeral Home in Calgary is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hawkins, who was born in Houston, died Dec. 13.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Hawkins moved to Calgary in 1951 where he was active in the oil and gas industry. He was the founder and chief executive officer of Oakwood Petroleum Ltd. in Calgary and most recently had been president and chief executive officer of Drake Pacific Enterprises Ltd.
While living in Calgary, Mr. Hawkins had maintained a home in the Spokane area since 1975.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; a daughter, Kathy; two sons, Dallas and Robert; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Veronica Wingenbach Spokane
Vigil service for Veronica Wingenbach, 95, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral mass is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Wingenbach, who was born in Strasburg, N.D., died Monday. She was a 51-year Spokane resident.
In 1923 she married Sam Feist. They moved to Spokane in the late 1940s. Her husband died in 1953.
Mrs. Wingenbach was a cook at Gonzaga Prep School for several years. In the 1960s she became a housekeeper at a Catholic parish in Quincy, Wash., and later in Yakima. She later moved back to Spokane.
In 1971 she married Dennis Wingenbach.
Mrs. Wingenbach was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Her husband died in 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Barera of Tacoma and Bernice Roberson of Torrance, Calif.; three sons, Marvin Feist of Spokane, Pat Feist of Shelton, Wash. and Herman Feist of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, John Bichler of San Marcos, Calif.; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Helen Gerhard Davenport, Wash.
No service will be held for Helen L. Gerhard, 78, at her request. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gerhard, who was born in Los Angeles, died last Thursday.
She graduated in 1940 from South Gate High School in California and in 1942 married Harry Gerhard.
While in California, she worked in the parts department of Sears for 15 years before retiring in 1982.
Mrs. Gerhard moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1983 and to Davenport in 1995.
She was a member of the Eagles and Elks lodges.
Her husband died in 1995.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Wilson of Spokane, Barbara Feiner of Edwall, Wash., Linda Leonard of South Carolina and Teresa Hardin of California; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Phyllis Frey Boise
Graveside service for Phyllis Jean Frey, 57, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Fairmont Memorial Park in Spokane. Service was Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Boise. Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Frey, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.
She grew up near Spokane on a horse and cattle ranch operated by her father and brothers. She graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1961.
In 1964 she married Mike Frey. That same year she graduated from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing with a registered nursing degree.
She worked at various hospitals in Spokane, Dayton, Wash., and Portland as an operating room nurse and a floor nurse before moving to Issaquah, Wash., in 1978.
Mrs. Frey worked at the Bellegrove Ob/Gyn office in Bellevue for 16 years.
In 1988 Mrs. Frey received an advanced registered nurse practitioner license.
In 1994 she moved to Boise, where she worked for one year at the American Red Cross then joined the office of Dr. David Barton. She retired in 1998.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Alan Frey of Seattle and Barry Frey of Mount Vernon, Wash; a daughter, April Dierdorff of Bend, Ore.; a sister, Carol Franson of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Rev. LaVerne Reeser Spokane
Service for the Rev. LaVerne Roy Reeser, 72, will be 11 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will be at the Moran Prairie Cemetery.
The Rev. Reeser, who was born in Orangeville, Ill., died Sunday. He was a 12-year Spokane resident.
He worked on his grandparents’ farm when he was young.
He graduated from high school in 1946. After graduation he went to work with the Stephenson County Dairy Herd Improvement Association as supervisor of Unit No. 1.
The Rev. Reeser enrolled in the pastors course at Moody Bible institute in Chicago in 1950. He graduated in 1953 and married Joan Bartels in 1954.
He was ordained into the Christian ministry in 1955 at the Cicero Bible Church. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Biola University in LaMirada, Calif., in 1966 and received a master’s degree in Christian education from Talbot Theological Seminary in 1968.
Rev. Reeser served in churches in Illinois and California and was dean of education and taught numerous classes at Montana Institute of the Bible in Billings, Mont.. He also pastored at the Evangelical Free Church in Roundup, Mont., and served at First Baptist Church in Spokane for seven years. He retired in 1995 due to poor health.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joan; a son, Steve Reeser of Milwaukee; a daughter, Cheryl Hunt of Marysville, Wash.; a brother, Donald Resser of Greenville, Ill.; two sisters, Loreiene VanderWal of Carson City, Nev. and Delores Kohn of Racine, Wis.; and two grandchildren.
Elemiuel `Bud’ Cole Spokane
Visitation for Elemiuel “Bud” Cole, 81, will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.
Mr. Cole, who was born in Burlington, N.C., died Sunday.
His wife preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Hertel of Great Falls, Mont.; four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Edward Mosey Spokane
Vigil service for Edward F. Mosey, 82, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Cemetery on Trent.
Born in Portland, Mr. Mosey died Sunday. He was a 35-year Spokane resident.
He was a sand molder in the steel industry.
Survivors include his wife, Dee; four sons, Shawn, Greg, Damian and Thad Mosey; two sisters, June Noll and Lorraine Comfort; and five grandchildren.

Robert Waiting Spokane
Service for Robert Waiting, 90, will be at 10 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Waiting, who was born in Limerick, Saskatchewan, died Saturday. He was a 62-year Spokane resident.
He worked as a superintendent in heavy commercial construction for 40 years.
Mr. Waiting was a member of Carpenters Union No. 98 and was on the Orchard Prairie School Board for 17 years. He was also a volunteer for the District 9 Fire Department, a lifetime member of the Eastgate Masonic Lodge, the El Katif Temple and the Scottish Rite bodies, and a member of the Central Grange.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margaret; a son, Robert Waiting of Spokane; a daughter, Judith Perry of Lynnwood, Wash.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

E.C. Edwards Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for E.C. Edwards, 72, will be today at 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene with a reception to follow at the Hayden Lake Eagles Lodge. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Edwards, who was born in Dickenson County,Va., died Sunday.
He served in the Air Force. In 1948 he married Nita Lundblade. The couple settled in Coeur d’Alene in 1953 after his military service.
Mr. Edwards worked at the Kaiser Aluminum Trentwood Plant for many years and served for 20 years as a mechanic in the truck shop. He retired in 1982.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Coeur d’Alene Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving as junior vice commander of the post for one year.
Mr. Edwards enjoyed fishing and hunting, bluegrass music and outdoor recreation and spent lots of time at his cabin on the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years; two daughters, Cathy Thompson of Coeur d’Alene and Karen Rude of Dalton Gardens, Idaho; two sisters, Trulah Powers of Weippe, Idaho, and Ruth Arrington of Virginia; two grandsons and one great-grandson.

Roscoe `Rock’ Walker Spokane
Memorial service for Roscoe L. “Rock” Walker. 74, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Walker, who was born in Kansas City, died Saturday. He was a 45-year Spokane resident.
He served in the Army during World War II in the 4th Armored Division.
Mr. Walker was a police officer for the city of Spokane for 29 years. He retired in 1987.
He had earned a second-degree black belt in judo.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Winona; two daughters, Cheryl Walker of Coeur d’Alene and Brandi Sladek of Boston; a son, Alan Walker of Far Hills, N.J.; three sisters, Dorothy Crocker of Springfield, Mo., Harriet Hoyt of Kansas City and Sharon Klien of Branson, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

Raouel `Smokey’ Charbonneau Spokane
Funeral Mass for Raouel “Smokey” Charbonneau, 80, was Monday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Otis Orchards. Inurnment will be held in June at St. Josephs Cemetery. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Charbonneau, who was born in St. John, N.D., died last Thursday. He was a 50-year Spokane resident.
He retired from Kaiser Aluminum Trentwood after 35 years.
Mr. Charbonneau was one of the first 10-gallon donors for the Inland Northwest Blood Bank.
His wife of 51 years, Jacqueline, died in 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Colin and Michael Charbonneau, both of Spokane, and Garry Charbonneau of McMinnville, Ore.; a daughter, Nadine Charbonneau of Bremerton; two brothers, LeRoy Charbonneau of Springside, Saskatchewan, and Wendell Charbonneau of Wadena, Saskatchewan; a sister, Evelyn Mallonee of Yakima; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson

Kathleen Vawter Spokane
Memorial service for Kathleen L. Vawter, 40, is planned for 1 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Vawter died Saturday.
She graduated in 1979 from West Valley High School and later from Spokane Community College with a degree in cosmetology.
Mrs. Vawter worked for Nordstrom for 10 years and later worked as a bookkeeper and cashier for Excel Foods in Cheney for six years.
She was a past member of the Spokane Realtors Association.
Survivors include her husband of four years, Andrew; her parents, Vernon and Lucille Thill of Spokane; three sisters, Judy Sparrow and Debra Cummings, both of Spokane, and Vernita Moehrle of Lewiston; and three brothers, Michael Thill of Spokane, Gregory Thill of Las Vegas and Steven Thill of Topeka, Kan.

Eugenia Tawney Spokane

Mrs. Tawney, who was born in Butte, Neb., died Tuesday. She was a 57-year Spokane resident.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Irene Smith and Florence Walker, both of Spokane; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Clifford Allen Spokane
Service for Clifford Allen, 72, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Pines Cemetery Mausoleum. Burial will follow. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Allen, who died Monday, was born in Columbus, N.D.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Allen was a heavy-equipment operator in the construction industry.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435 and was a twotime post commander. He was also a Shriner and had been a clown with the Shriners for many years.
Survivors include a son, Michael Allen of Clarkston, Wash.; two daughters, Susan Proctor of Seattle and Betti Bradley of Deer Park; two sisters, Mickey Ferguson of Spokane and Margaret Weber of Riverside, Wash.; a brother, Robert Allen of Arizona; and numerous grandchildren.
Ron Steele Spokane
Memorial service for Ron Steele, 68, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.
Mr. Steele, who was born in Haynes, N.D., died Sunday. He was a 60-year Spokane resident.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Steele owned and operated R and S Construction for many years. He also owned and raced horses at Playfair Race Course.
Survivors include a son, Ron Steele Jr. of Spokane; two sisters, May Ella Scarano of Spokane and Joyce Wagar of Greenacres; and two brothers, Royce Steele of Troy, Mont., and Dean Steele of Libby, Mont.

Hugh Armstrong Spokane
No services will be held for Hugh R. Armstrong, 78, at his request. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Armstrong, who was born in Ekalaka, Mont., died Sunday.
He had served in the Air Force throughout Europe during World War II.
Mr. Armstrong was a truck driver for Carnation Co., and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1474. He was also a longtime member of the Teamsters Union.

Betty Dethloff Mead
No service will be held for Betty Jeanette Dethloff, 57, at her request. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dethloff, who was born in Spokane, died Sunday after a 10-year battle with cancer.
She was a 32-year area resident and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Alfred; two daughters, Sue McCallum and Renee Moos, both of Spokane; a brother, Robert Dillon of Mead; a sister, Mary Hubert of Metaline Falls, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
