Luke Mcarthur Completes Navy Recruit Training
Seaman Recruit Luke S. McArthur, son of Carnie and Donna McArthur of Hayden Lake, graduated from Navy Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill., in October.
McArthur was selected from 652 graduating recruits to serve as division honor recruit and was awarded the United Service Organization Shipmate Award based on outstanding performance of duty, high academic standing, sportsmanship, response to orders, initiative and leadership.
He is currently attending Gunners Mate School in Great Lakes where he passed the first part of the Navy SEAL challenge. He will pursue a SEAL career by attending basic underwater demolition SEAL training in San Diego.
McArthur received high school diplomas in 1999 from the International Correspondence School and the Washington State Home School Association.
North Idaho High School students recently received military service academy nominations from state Senators Larry Craig and Mike Crapo.
Crapo’s nominees are: U.S. Air Force Academy - Noel Horton, Post Falls; and Kelly Kline, Coeur d’Alene.
U.S. Military Academy - Nathan Alderman, Coeur d’Alene.
Merchant Marine Academy - Johannes Meyling, Coeur d’Alene; and Alisha Wolfe, Sagle, Idaho.
U.S. Naval Academy - Jedidiah Getzlaff, and Nick Barker, both of Moscow, Idaho; Jarad Balch, Ponderay, Idaho; and Stephen McMath, Rathdrum, Idaho.
Craig’s nominees are: U.S. Military Academy - Nathan Alderman, Coeur d’Alene.
U.S. Naval Academy - Rondo Bauer, Jewett City, Conn. (military dependent from Sandpoint); and Stephen McMath, Rathdrum, Idaho.
