Beradine Bisaro Kellogg

Funeral service for Beradine Adele Bisaro, 75, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the American Lutheran Church in Kellogg. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Potlatch, Idaho, Mrs. Bisaro died Wednesday.

She moved to Kellogg in the 1930s.

In 1942 she married Edwon Bisaro. He was killed in action in 1944.

In 1945 she married Art Bisaro in Everett, Wash.

She was a member of the American Lutheran Church and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years; two sons, Edwon Bisaro of Kingston, Idaho, and Dale Bisaro of Kellogg; a daughter, Susan Heyn of Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Floyd Wolheter of Rathdrum and Johnny Wolheter of Potlatch; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lutheran Church or to a food bank.

Glenn Hayden Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Glenn J. Hayden, 83, will be at 2 p.m. today at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Hayden, who died Wednesday, was born in Ashton, Iowa.

He moved to Butte, Mont., from Minnesota, in 1951. He worked at the University of Montana in Missoula from 1969 until 1976.

Mr. Hayden moved to Benton City, Wash., after retiring and lived there until September when he moved to Coeur d’Alene.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Irene; two sons, Bruce Hayden of Butte, Mont., and Gary Hayden of Benton City; two daughters, Sandra Beaunaux of Coeur d’Alene and Linda Sunderland of Missoula, Mont.; a sister, Bea Garza of Stevens, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Marie Blau Spokane

Memorial service for Marie Sailor Blau, 84, will be at 11 a.m. today at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Burial preceded the service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blau, who was born in Freeman, died Thursday.

She moved to Spokane in 1930 and worked as a clerk at P.M. Jacoy’s. She and her husband, Dwight Sailor, owned and operated Dwimars Grocery on East Third for 10 years.

From 1950 to 1975 she worked as a clerk in the pharmacy at Greenos Market.

She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was a volunteer with the reading program at Garfield Elementary.

Her first husband, Dwight Sailor, died in 1973.

Her husband of 20 years, William Blau, died in 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Marion Kiehn and Karen Davis, and a brother, Elmer Thorson, all of Spokane; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission.

Laurie (Cotant) Pool Portland

Memorial service for Laurie M. (Cotant) Pool, 80, was Sunday in Portland. Inurnment will be at the Colfax (Wash.) Cemetery on Mother’s Day, May 13. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Born in American Falls, Idaho, Mrs. Pool died Dec. 22.

She married Del Pool in 1941. They moved to Colfax after World War II.

Mrs. Pool worked as a beautician in Idaho and Colfax.

In 1960 she and her husband purchased the Colfax Grange Insurance Co. They retired in 1980 and spent the winter months in Arizona.

She moved to Portland in 1995.

Mrs. Pool was a member of the Parvin Grange, the Methodist Womens Circle, the Order of Eastern Star and Colfax Community Bible Church.

Her husband died in 1994.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Walker of Almira, Wash., Sandra Peterson of Pasco and Sharon Steiger of Portland; and six grandchildren.

George Macy Coeur d’Alene

Funeral Mass for George E. Macy, 87, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Kellogg.

Mr. Macy, who was born in Chicago, died Tuesday.

In 1936 he married Marie Block in Chicago.

He worked as a millwright at Potlatch Lumber Co. and distributed papers for the Spokane Chronicle. Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas Macy of Post Falls; three daughters, Rosemary Barnes of Kennewick, Jean Malen of Portland and Alice Leffler of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Sister Jean Macy of Reno, Nev., and Catherine Martin ; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Janet (Meredith) Miller Spokane

Graveside service for Janet Marie (Meredith) Miller, 60, will be at 2 p.m. today at Rosewood Cemetery in Fairfield. Spokane Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Plummer, Idaho, Mrs. Miller died Tuesday.

She was raised in Worley, Idaho, and moved to Spokane in 1967.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker. She also worked as a bank teller for Seattle First National Bank for 13 years, operated an upholstery business from her home for six years, and operated Randy’s Rub in Rockford for five years with her son, Randy.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Dennis; two sons, Scott Fieser of Spokane and Randy Fieser of Fairfield; two daughters, Debbie Estey and Billie Jo Bales, both of Spokane; her mother, Elaine Meredith of Worley; a brother, Glen Meredith of Worley; two sisters, Patricia Vens of Spokane and Charlene Waddell of Worley; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospital and Medical Center.

Thomas Cannon McCleary, Wash.

Memorial gathering for Thomas Cannon, 76, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the family home in McCleary. Whiteside Chapel in Elma, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Spokane, Mr. Cannon died Dec. 20.

He graduated in 1942 from Lewis and Clark High School and in 1947 from Kinman Business College.

During World War II he served in the Army.

In 1948 he married Carline Collins.

Mr. Cannon owned and operated service stations in Spokane.

He and his wife moved to McCleary in 1991.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Terry Cannon of Elma; three sisters, Jean York of Coeur d’Alene, Francis Killingsworth of Cascade, Idaho, and Betty Miller of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Geraldine Steen Spokane

Visitation for Geraldine Steen, 78, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenacres Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Steen, a 29-year Spokane resident, died Wednesday. She was born in Quanah, Texas.

She was a homemaker and a member of Greenacres Baptist Church.

Her husband, William, died in 1988.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Farley and Carol Reisdorph, both of Spokane; a son, James Steen of El Mirage, Ariz.; two sisters, Shirley Harvey and Jean Buck; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

William Joos Spokane

Service for William Richard Joos, 55, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.

Mr. Joos, who was born in Boston, died Tuesday.

He was a 13-year Spokane resident and worked as a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; three sons, Darrin and Jeremy Joos, and David Vaughn, all of Spokane; his former wife, Michele Joos; and a sister, Karen DiSalvo.

Margaret Gilmond Poulsbo, Wash.

Service for Margaret Gilmond, 74, was Thursday at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial was at Meyers Falls Cemetery in Kettle Falls, Wash.

Mrs. Gilmond, who was born in Andover, Mass., died Saturday.

She graduated from high school in Springfield, Mass.

In 1965 she moved to Coeur d’Alene. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

In 1994 she married Wilfred Gilmond. He died the same year.

In 1997 she moved to Poulsbo, Wash.

Survivors include three sons, Don Wolters of San Diego, Ken Wolters of South Carolina and James Wolters of Eureka, Calif; two daughters, Linda Schofield of Post Falls and Karen Minard of Port Orchard, Wash.; a sister, Mary Estabrock of Booth Bay Harbor, Maine; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Levi Marek Pinehurst, Idaho

Memorial service for Levi James Marek, 19, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Christian Life Center in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Marek, who was born in Kellogg, died Friday.

He was a student in the Kellogg School District.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Amanda Whitley, and his daughter, Elizabeth, both of Pinehurst; his parents, Penny Marek of Silverton, Idaho, and Terry Marek of Roy, Utah; a brother, Heath Marek, and a sister, Miranda Marek, both of Kellogg; his grandfathers, Merle Windedahl of Whitewood, S.D., and Leo Marek of Pinehurst.

Walter `Jack’ Tish Spokane

Private graveside service for Walter J. “Jack” Tish, 79, was Friday at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Born in Caldwell, Idaho, Mr. Tish died Tuesday.

He graduated in 1938 from Greenleaf (Idaho) Academy.

In 1944 he married Barbara Cheeseman.

During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps as a corporal. He was a radio operator for air and sea rescue in England.

Mr. Tish and his wife moved to Spokane in 1953 from Caldwell. He worked as a custodian at Sacred Heart Hospital for 18 years and retired in 1977.

Mr. Tish was a past president of the Columbian Geological Society.

His wife died in 1992.

Survivors include a son, John Tish, and a daughter, Barbara Tish, both of Spokane; and a sister, Elsie Coker of Modesto, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Humane Society.

Hank Dirkmaat Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Hank W. Dirkmaat, 78, will be Friday in Sandy, Utah. Burial will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Dirkmaat, who was born in Amsterdam, died Sunday.

In 1945 he married Fray Venema in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, and they immigrated to the United States in 1947.

They lived in Utah, Los Angeles, Algonquin, Ill., Aurora, Colo., California and Sandy. In 1990 they moved to Coeur d’Alene.

He worked for more than 34 years in passenger services and for 25 years as a flight safety instructor for United Airlines.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

His wife died in 1997.

Survivors include two daughters, Lily Cannon of Kissimmee, Fla., and Renee Erickson of Draper, Utah; three sons, Gerrit Dirkmaat of San Jose, Calif., Henry Dirkmaat of Pinehurst, N.C., and Dwight Dirkmaat of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, John Dickman of Ripon, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Henry Vanderberg Spokane

Memorial service for Henry P. Vanderberg, a lifetime Spokane resident, will be at 10 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Mr. Vanderberg, 74, died Wednesday.

He worked as a truck driver in the transportation industry.

Mr. Vanderberg served in the military and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45.

His wife preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Avalon Rutherford and Cheryl Ann Dietrich; a son, Gordon Vanderberg; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
