Midori To Perform With Symphony
Midori made her violin solo debut with the New York Philharmonic when she was 11.
Now at 28, Midori has made the transition from child prodigy to a prodigious adult artist. She joins the Spokane Symphony Thursday (not Friday, the symphony’s usual concert day) to perform Dvorak’s Violin concerto.
Guest conductor Gunther Schuller will lead the orchestra in his own “Seven Studies on Theme” by Paul Klee and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8. The concert is an early celebration of Schuller’s 75th birthday in recognition of his long relationship with the Spokane Symphony.
Verne Windham, music programming director at KPBX and conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra, will discuss the evening’s music in a pre-concert talk in the Opera House auditorium at 7 p.m.
The symphony concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $16 to $33 and are available at the symphony ticket office and through G&B.
