Liberty withstood a Colfax rally during Friday night’s District 7 1A tournament opener at Mead High.
Henry Smith hit three 3-pointers and Ben Holling scored eight points in the third quarter, helping the Lancers edge the Bulldogs 45-42.
Colfax rallied behind John White, who scored seven in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs missed a final 3-point attempt.
Liberty is 3-0 vs. Colfax this year, with each win by nine points or less.
Liberty plays Freeman at 7 tonight for a berth in the championship round. Colfax meets Kettle Falls at 3:30 in a loser-out game.

Colton will play LaCrosse-Washtucna at 4 p.m. today in a winner-to-district, loser-out game. Ryan Uptmor had 22 rebounds for Asotin, which missed 25 of 28 field-goal attempts in the second half.
