College Baseball: Bennett Honored

Gonzaga University senior righthander Steve Bennett has been named the WCC pitcher of the week following his solid performance against Washington State in the Bulldogs’ season opener.

Bennett pitched six strong innings to pick up the victory as Gonzaga knocked off WSU 7-3 Friday. After allowing two runs in the first inning, Bennett pitched five scoreless innings and finished with seven strikeouts.

The Bulldogs travel to Moraga, Calif., on Saturday for a doubleheader against Saint Mary’s. The teams play a single game on Sunday.
