Kootenai County’S Lodging Sales Rise

Lodging sales in Kootenai County totaled $34.6 million in 1999, a 5 percent increase over the previous year.

Silverwood Theme Park’s new roller coaster played a role in filling up hotel rooms, as did summer weather that lingered through September and an aggressive marketing campaign in the fall, said Christina Hatfield, tourism marketing manager for the Coeur d’Alene Area Chamber of Commerce.

Lodging sales for September and November both experienced double-digit gains.
