Dynamic Duo Has Big Night For T-O
Southeast B Tournament
Patrick Heaton and Anthony Buergel combined for 46 points and 17 rebounds Friday in Tekoa-Oakesdale’s 72-68 overtime win over Pomeroy during the first day of the Southeast District 9 B Tournament.
T-O entered as the No. 3 seed from the Whitman County, Pomeroy as the No. 2 from the Blue Mountain. The day turned sour for Blue Mountain teams, which finished 0-4.
Heaton, Buergel and Gabe Smith combined for nine of T-O’s 10 points in overtime. Smith finished with eight rebounds, Heaton with six assists.
Pomeroy’s Jory Feider scored 14 of his 20 in the first half and finished with 10 rebounds. Justin Kelly added a game-high 10 assists.
When the tournament shifts to Washington State University on Monday, T-O will play Garfield-Palouse at 8 p.m. for a berth in the championship game. Pomeroy will play Liberty Christian at 2:30 in a loser-out game.

Jeremy Kimble had seven assists and combined with Jason Fox for 35 points as the fourth-ranked Vikings defeated the Patriots for their sixth consecutive victory.
Kimble and Mitch Kriebel combined for 12 points in the third quarter, when the Whitman No. 1-seeded Vikings pulled away from the fourth-seeded Blue Mountain team.
The Patriots’ Josh Jarrett had 10 rebounds.

Tiffani King scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, including two 3-pointers, and the Whitman fourth-seeded Panthers upset the Irish, the top Blue Mountain seed.
Asotin hit 10 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to overturn a third-quarter deficit. Sarah Witters had 11 rebounds and Mandy McCann added five steals for the Panthers. Mackenzie Lilwall had eight rebounds and Whitney Power five steals for DeSales.
Monday night at WSU, Asotin will play LaCrosse-Washtucna at 6:30 for a berth in the championship game. DeSales will play Waitsburg at 1 p.m. in a loser-out game.

L-W’s Kate Baumann added 10 rebounds to help a 42-31 advantage. The Cardinals’ Emily Seney and Melissa Wyatt combined for 22 rebounds.
