Bill Proposed For Off-Road Riders
Legislation proposed by Rep. Jeff Alltus that would give off-road enthusiasts more room to run, easily passed the House Monday.
The bill would allow ATVs and motorcycles with an off-road sticker to operate on dirt roads in forest lands.
“There are huge numbers of motorcycles and ATVs in the woods,” Alltus, R-Hayde, said. “This is a good bill that clarifies the law.”
The bill would also allow cities and counties the option to open roads for dual purpose after public hearings had been held.
“This would allow people to ride in the woods and then back to their hotel or maybe the gas station,” Alltus said. “But, that would be left up to the cities and counties.”
