Lewis Title Defense Likely

Lennox Lewis could make his first defense of the unified heavyweight championship against unbeaten Michael Grant on April 29 in Madison Square Garden, site of Lewis’ disputed draw with Evander Holyfield.

“We’re in the process of finalizing the contracts,” said Milton Chwasky, lawyer for Panos Eliades, Lewis’ British promoter. “We’ve pretty much finished with the Lewis and Grant people.”

The daughter of boxing great Joe Frazier has formally entered the ranks of women’s professional boxing.

Jacqueline Frazier-Lyde has a license, a promoter, two trainers, a Feb. 6 fight and a guaranteed $25,000 purse, the largest for a debut in women’s boxing.
