Steve Martin Will Be Honored At Comedy Awards Rite
Lisa Kudrow, Chris Rock, Bill Murray, Annette Bening, Robert De Niro and Whoopi Goldberg are among nominees for the 14th annual American Comedy Awards to be presented Feb. 6 at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles.
Steve Martin will receive the event’s Career Achievement Award, to be presented by his “The Out-of-Towners” co-star, Goldie Hawn.
Nominees for funniest female performer in a television series are Debra Messing for “Will & Grace,” Sarah Jessica Parker for “Sex and the City” and Tracey Ullman for “Tracey Takes On …” Male performer nominees for a television series are Michael J. Fox for “Spin City,” Rock for “The Chris Rock Show” and Ray Romano for “Everybody Loves Raymond.”
Nominees for funniest female performer in a television special are Kathy Bates for “Annie,” Goldberg for “The 71st Annual Academy Awards” and Kudrow for “The 1999 MTV Movie Awards.”
Male performer nominees for a television special are Billy Crystal and Murray for “Saturday Night Live 25th Anniversary,” David Hyde Pierce for “The 51st Emmy Awards” and Rock for “Chris Rock: Bigger and Blacker.”
Nominees for funniest actress in a leading film role are Drew Barrymore for “Never Been Kissed,” Bening for “American Beauty,” Janeane Garofalo for “Mystery Men” and Reese Witherspoon for “Election.”
Nominations for funniest actor in a leading film role are Jim Carrey for “Man on the Moon,” De Niro for “Analyze This,” Mike Myers for “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” and Kevin Spacey for “American Beauty.”
Supporting female performer nominees for a television series are Kudrow for “Friends,” Megan Mullally for “Will & Grace” and Doris Roberts for “Everybody Loves Raymond.”
