Cda Council Sets 8 Goals For 2000
The Coeur d’Alene City Council met for a planning retreat and has come up with eight goals for the coming year.
The Council met for 4-1/2 hours Wednesday to outline the goals, City Clerk Susan Weathers said.
The goals include:
Hire a new city administrator. Dan Dible resigned from that post in December.
Hire a new police chief. Chief Dave Scates announced his retirement, effective in August.
Find a location for a proposed public library. The Portland consulting firm of Walker-Macy has suggested the library be placed just north and a little west of City Hall.
Complete the permit center. That is an effort to reorganize the city building division to make it more customer friendly, Weathers said.
Make Northwest Boulevard improvements. The City Council has voted to put $2.5 million toward a median, trees and other beautification plans to spruce up the main corridor to downtown.
Implement the Walker-Macy plan as approved by the council. The City Council will vote on the plan to revitalize Coeur d’Alene’s core on March 21.
Start City Hall long range planning. This would start discussions for a possible expansion of City Hall.
Find the “right” community center. Voters said no in November to an advisory vote that asked them if they wanted tax dollars spent to build a multi-use community center.
