Maggie (Lowe) Brewer Naples, Idaho

Visitation for Maggie Jane (Lowe) Brewer, 86, will be today from noon to 5 p.m. at Bonners Ferry Funeral Chapel, and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Plummer (Idaho) Community Hall. Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the community hall with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Plummer.

Mrs. Brewer, who was born in West Virginia, died Wednesday.

She grew up and attended school in West Virginia, and then worked for Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, W. Va.

In 1935 she married Homer Brewer. They moved to Lewiston in 1964. Two years ago they moved to her son’s home in Naples.

Survivors include her husband; seven daughters, Juanita Hedrick and Margaret Beck, both of Clarkston, Wash., Bernice Stone and Virginia Kriegel, both of Lewiston, Hazel Wingler of Lexington, Va., Roxie Wingler of Cottonwood, Idaho, and Ruby Brewer of Naples; six sons, Melvin and Taylor Brewer, both of Sandpoint, George Brewer of Naples, Samuel Brewer of St. Maries, Todd Brewer of Craigmont, Idaho, and Everette Brewer of Lewiston; six sisters, Mildred and Clara, both of Florida, Ruth of Maryland, Madeline of Delaware, and Frances and Eve, both of Missouri; two brothers, Bud Lowe of Florida and Bob Lowe of Tennessee; 38 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Paul Lawrence Sr. Parkland, Wash.

Memorial gathering for Paul A. Lawrence Sr., 72, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Truevine Apartments in Tacoma, Wash. Tuell-McKee Funeral Home in Tacoma is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lawrence, a former Spokane resident, died Jan. 8. He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich.

He served with the Army Corps of Engineers.

In 1940 he moved to Spokane and helped found and build the Lilac Blind Foundation in Spokane. He was blind for the last 35 years of his life.

In 1976 he moved to Parkland.

Mr. Lawrence was a member of the National Federation for the Blind.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene; a son, Richard Lawrence; a daughter, Paula Johnston; a stepson, Thomas Ritchie; a stepdaughter, Donna Malarik; his mother, Goldie Pelkey; a sister, Ruth Shaul; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bessie Noel Spokane

Memorial service for Bessie Jane Noel, 91, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Noel, who was born in Bluefield, W.Va., died Jan. 5.

She moved to Spokane in 1935.

Mrs. Noel worked as a manager and cook in the cafeteria at Kaiser Aluminum in Trentwood. She retired in 1973.

Her husband, Paul, died in 1983.

She is survived by two daughters, Mable Noel of Newman Lake and Ruth Taylor of Otis Orchards; two sons, Jerry Noel of Spokane and David Noel of Newman Lake; a brother, Milton Brookman of West Virginia; 10 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren.

Rita (Mercer) Nelson Spokane

Memorial service for Rita Morine (Mercer) Nelson, 88, will be held at a later date. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nelson, who died Wednesday, was born in Ava, Mo.

She graduated in 1928 from Missoula County High School and in 1936 from the University of Montana.

In 1940 she married George Nelson. They lived in Missoula, where she worked as a librarian for the Missoula County Library and as an assistant professor for the University of Montana Library for more than 30 years. She retired in 1971.

Mrs. Nelson and her husband moved to Spokane in 1978.

She was a volunteer for the Spokane County Library Outreach Department for 12 years. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta fraternity, and the Montana Library Association.

Her husband died in 1990.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Thompson of Spokane and Jane Haburchak of Billings, Mont.; a sister, Lena Thomas of Kalispell, Mont.; two brothers, Gem Mercer of Polson, Mont., and Harry Mercer of California; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Geraldine Sebero Spokane

Funeral Mass for Geraldine M. Sebero, 76, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Deer Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sebero, who was born in Rhinelander, Wis., died Tuesday.

She was a homemaker and served as president of the Eagles Lodge No. 3564 in Deer Park.

She was a 50-year Spokane resident and was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Deer Park, the Moose Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Her husband, Jack, died in 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Sebero of Spokane and Robert Sebero of San Diego; two daughters, Norma Gene of Priest River, Idaho, and Jacqueline Sebero of Colville, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Rena Miller Eugene, Ore.

Memorial service for Rena F. Miller, 89, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Yates Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mrs. Miller, who was born in Fayetteville, Ark., died Tuesday.

She grew up and attended schools in Kansas City, Mo., and Denver, Colo., and then married Ed Miller.

They lived in Minot, N.D., before moving to Coeur d’Alene. They opened a photography business and Mrs. Miller worked as a bookkeeper.

They later moved to Eugene.

Survivors include her husband.

William Flinn Spokane

Visitation for William H. “Bill” Flinn, 67, will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

Born in Spokane, Mr. Flinn died Wednesday.

Mr. Flinn served in the Navy from 1951 to 1954.

He worked as an engineer draftsman and was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Darlene; a son, Danny Flinn of Battle Creek, Mich.; two daughters, Brenda Kuest of Spokane and Patti Knox of Las Vegas; his mother, Minnie Flinn, and a sister, Marilynn Thompson, both of Spokane; and a grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Anna Ogden Hall for Women and Children, the Union Gospel Mission or the Life Service Center.

Bess Gorman Spokane

Visitation for Bess Gorman, 79, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service will be at noon Monday at the funeral home.

Born in Clyde, Texas, Mrs. Gorman died Tuesday.

In 1942 she married J.D. Gorman. They moved to Spokane in 1945. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Lynda Parry of Spokane; five brothers, Gerald Webb of Huntsville, Ala., Samuel Webb of Bayard, N.M., Britain Webb IV of Marfa, Texas, Joe Webb of Dallas, and Charlie Webb of Hibbing, Minn.; four sisters, Martie Batley of Abilene, Texas, Irma Canada of Baird, Texas, Amy Jacquess of Clyde and Betty Farmer of Abilene; three grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Virginia (Veum) Green Spokane

Visitation for Virginia A. “Ginny” (Veum) Green, 89, will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Green, who was born in Winona, Wash., died Wednesday.

She was a Spokane resident for more than 70 years and was a waitress at the Percolator Restaurant for 25 years. She also worked at Seafirst Bank for 19 years.

Her husband, Warner, died in 1999.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Thompson of Spokane; a brother, Harold Veum of San Antonio; and a grandson.

Christine `Tena’ Meyers Spokane

Private burial for Christine E. “Tena” Meyers, 97, will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Colfax, Wash., Mrs. Meyers died Thursday.

She was a homemaker and lived in Spokane for 60 years.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include three cousins.

Alma Holling Fairfield

No service will be held for Alma Holling, 87, at her request. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Holling, a homemaker, died Monday. She was born in Oregon City, Ore.

She lived in the Plaza, Wash., area for more than 30 years before moving to Fairfield five years ago.

Her husband, Walter, died in 1995.

Survivors include a son, Michael Gilbert of Redmond, Wash.; a daughter, Gail Butler of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Bonnie Anderson; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Robert Wint Colville, Wash.

Private memorial service will be held for Robert W. Wint, 30. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wint, who was born in Kellogg, died Tuesday.

His family moved to Colville 11 years ago and in 1991 he graduated from Riverside High School.

Survivors include his parents, Eileen and Harold Wint Jr. of Colville, Wash.; a sister, Jennifer Wint of Spokane; a brother, Steve Wint of Colville; and his grandparents, Earl and Thelma McClellan of Fairfield, and Harold Wint Sr. of Post Falls.

Sarah Herigstad Deer Park

Service for Sarah Caroline Herigstad, 94, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Faith Lutheran Church in Deer Park. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Lowry, Minn., Mrs. Herigstad died Wednesday.

In 1923 she graduated from Marchwell (Saskatchewan) High School.

In 1936 she married Lewis Herigstad. They moved to Deer Park in 1950.

Mrs. Herigstad was a homemaker and a news correspondent for the Deer Park Tribune. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizen Center.

Her husband died in 1980.

Survivors include three sons, Eldon Herigstad of Spokane, Larry Herigstad of Federal Way, Wash., and Arvid Herigstad of Bloomington, Minn.; three brothers, Arnold Apland of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Lawrence Apland of Langenburg, Saskatchewan, and Harry Apland of Dryden, Ontario; four sisters, Rose Levesque and Lorna Marshall, both of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Edna Steiner of Vernon, British Columbia, and Gladys Hogberg of Langenburg; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Martha (Schwabauer) Lyman Medford, Ore.

Private burial for Martha (Schwabauer) Lyman, a former Spokane resident, will be at Riverside Memorial Park in Spokane. CongerMorris Funeral Directors in Medford, Ore., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lyman, who was born in Hotchkiss, Colo., died Friday. She was 95.

In 1934 she married Paul Lyman, and in 1935 they moved to Spokane.

She worked as a furrier and was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Spokane.

Her husband died in 1980.

She had lived in Medford since 1992.

Mrs. Lyman is survived by a son, Charles Carlisle of Flint, Mich.; a sister, Helen Hein of Jacksonville, Ore.; two brothers, Daniel Schwabauer of Yakima and John Schwabauer of Gering, Neb.; 10 grandhildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
