No Stones Thrown

Daniela Tobar woke up Wednesday, walked to the bathroom, undressed and took a shower - as scores of people watched. The 21-year-old actress is spending two weeks in a house in central Santiago, Chile, made of nothing but glass, part of a project designed to gauge how the public feels about a person’s right to privacy. “The idea is for her to live a completely normal life,” said architect Arturo Torres, who developed the idea with a colleague. “We want to show a way of life which is unusual.” Scores of people gather along the sidewalk each day, gawking as Tobar does laundry, cleans, eats, receives visitors - even goes to the bathroom. Every corner of the 8-foot-by-8-foot structure can be seen from the sidewalk.
