Looking Back: Manito Grocery In 1940
Open for business. Manito Grocery was founded circa 1907 and moved to 30th and Grand in 1911. In May 1940, the store, which was owned by brothers Edward H. and Herbert W. Walther, was re-opened following expansion and remodeling. The building was torn down in 1969 to make way for the current Manito Shopping Center. Pictured in 1940 are, from left, unidentified man, Paul Walther, Herb Walther, Ed Walther, Mal Johnson, Bert Sisson, Howard Bushnell, Hubert Klaue, Art Thompson and Les Willard.
